The Snug was perfect for what I needed. Clean and quiet, perfect after an exhausting day. I had car trouble on the day I was due to arrive, so my arrival time was constantly changing. This was no bother for Alison.

The “Snug” was perfect. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. Alison’s welcome basket and fresh milk in the fridge made us feel instantly at home. A perfect location for all Hadrian Wall activities. Off street parking was great. Alison was a lovely host, and highly recommend the “Snug”.

I have stayed at The Snug several times. As a lone female traveller it suits me perfectly - I am in a private, self contained space but with people around if needed (Alison (the host) lives in another part of the property). There is a well equipped kitchen (when I want to self cater) but the Bowes Hotel (less than 2 minutes walk from the property) serves excellent food, as does The Milecastle which is a 10 minute drive away. Bardon Mill has good rail links with trains to Newcastle & Carlisle. You are a short drive from Hadrian's Wall which is steeped in history - Vindolanda, Chesters, Housesteads, Corbridge & the Roman Army Museum are close. If you like to walk the spectacular walk at Allen Banks is nearby or drive to The Sill & access the Hadrian's Wall path (from The Sill its a short walk to the famous Sycamore Gap). Bardon Mill & the Snug have become my second home, I love to arrive and am always so sad to leave. There is an EV charging point for guests & others close by.
