Lovely locetion with lots of local walks (although many of the forestry trails directly from the house were closed while we were there so I'd check beforehand if you don't want to drive to walks). Cottage is very cute and has a brand new kitchen area with proper oven now (don't think the description has been updated!) and stove with plenty of fuel available. Dogs are supposed to be on a lead on the road outside the property and the garden isn't fully secure/had gardeners working while we were there, which made things a little tricky but perfectly manageable. The shower is blocked up so it isn't possible to have showers of more than a few minutes without ending up in a bath and it's very hard to switch off as well!
The best thing about this cottage is the location- right in the forest and extremely peaceful. The cottage itself is adorable, so cosy and homey. We loved it here so much.
A beautiful place to stay, very small and cosy but has everything you need - the kitchen has been re-done since the photos on the site were taken and is well equipped with a good oven, microwave and hob. Plenty of wood for the fire, a very comfy bed, loads of ideas and maps for things to do ( I recommend Bemnore botanic gardens, Puck's Glen and Quadmania) and is in a lovely quiet spot. The host's directions to the cottage were very good and detailed as it is some distance from the road, and they were very helpful when I contacted them before we went. I would definitely recommend this property if you are looking for a cosy spot to stay and some peace and quiet.
Very peaceful cabin in wood. We were impressed with how they’ve managed to provide everything you need in this space without if feeling cluttered. There are so many amazing, walks right nearby. Also, there are a selection of DVDs that are actually worth watching!
Glenbranter is a hamlet on the northwest shore of Loch Eck in the Argyll Forest Park, on the Cowal peninsula, Argyll and Bute in the West of Scotland. Nearby Strachur is only three miles way.
One of the jewels of the Forest Park, Glenbranter has trails from a short stroll among ancient oaks to a challenging all-day bike ride. The first trees of what was to become the Argyll Forest Park were planted here in the 1920s, after entertainer Harry Lauder leased the ground to the Forestry Commission. Later, Glenbranter village was built for workers who came here to work the forests of Cowal.
With picturesque villages dotted along the east shore of Upper Loch Fyne there are many places to stop and enjoy the scenery and local hospitality in Strachur, St Catherines, Cairndow wth the world renown Loch Fyne Oyster Bar at the head of the Loch. There are great woodland and garden walks, pebble beaches, old castle ruins churches, chapels and grave yards to explore.
