First of all, I'm happy and proud to be a Super Host! Thank you! I'm a young-at-heart, yet sensible, hard-working and respectful free-lance writer and creative-writing teacher. A Wisconsin (Glendale) native, UW-Oshkosh grad ('69) who also spent 20 years in Hawaii, I'm a happy and proud mother of a grown son (Madison) who co-hosts our cabin addition. He helps out with the techie and other household/cabin maintenance and upgrades. I'm an outdoors person who enjoys sunrises, sunsets, fishing, kayaking, winter x-country skiing, ice fishing...and time with friends, live music, craft beer, swimming, camping, traveling, good food, great books, and ... I savor quiet time and time t "talk story." I deeply cherish North-east Wisconsin and all its waterways, open spaces , clear skies, small towns, farms, traditions, wildlife, nightlife and varied natural habitats. I'm so happy to offer my family cabin so others can enjoy its special place and legacy of respect for nature, love of family and good times. I'm pleased to share information about this special place. Semi-retired, I keep CabinSong clean and well-stocked, but it's not fussy. I do quarterly deep- cleanings, where all drawers, shelves are emptied, items washed and freshened. I wash kitchenware after each guest sanitize such surfaces as handles, remotes, railings. I like to meet my guests, but it's not necessary... they can have all the privacy they want. I try to offer a homey/ almost north-woodsy-ish experience ... for singles, couples, families. ..for outdoors/indoors/special-events people, those here on business, or passing though to a Packer Game, Up North, Big city, or starting a fun tradition such as a fish camp, or women's, friends' mini retreats. You can create your special event here, from wedding and bridal showers, to anniversaries, graduations, birthdays and more. For any, all ages. (more on that below) I try to have items and ready for for your experience -- outdoor gear for all seasons, items for children, extra clothing, rain gear and a grab-and-go pack pack set for picnics or road trips for two. (Just add wine or beer and snacks.) I have a BBQ setup (choose from 3 grills), picnic/party and celebration decor, a deck fire pit; as well as Easter, Christmas, Halloween, and other holiday decor ...and more. I can share some dining, entertainment, fishing, hunting and shopping tips and/or ideas. I can advise you on such outings as kayak rides, visits to cheese-factory, breweries, ice fishing, area museums (EAA) and family fishing outings. When the timing is right, I can join you/guide you. I can refer you to one of the many local guides / clubs/experts I trust . upon request, guests have access to a toy box, book shelf (...take some home!) , tool kit, fish-cleaning station, tabletop fun box, treasure box, lots of games, sewing kit, hiking gear, baby stroller, snowshoes, fitness/yoga items, cross-country skies, fishing gear and more. Some items are provided on request; some are accessible. Let me know what you may want handy. While I've been talking about stuff... and doing stuff, CabinSong is delightfully simple, comfortable and easy settle into-- you'll right feel at home, in a rustic, yet comfortable way. Relax, rest, interact, enjoy solitude. Many come to create something in the heart of this huge waterways basin. ...they arrive to "get away" to write, sing, sketch, paint, stretch, run, bike, swim, study, meditate, or just do nothing...under a sunset's glow, in the hide-away loft or over a perfectly roasted marshmallow, or bottle of wine .
