This peaceful setting has stunning views of Dartmoor yet is only 30 mins to great surfing beaches. The stylish cottage has oak beams and slate floors with underfloor heating. French doors lead to the deck and a large, private, tranquil garden with wildlife ponds, free-range chickens, ancient oak trees and sweeping views of Dartmoor's wild northern tors. Detox in the sauna in the adjacent barn; bathe in the wood-fired hot tub on the deck or try your hand at home made pizzas in our outdoor oven. Beautifully converted to an extremely high standard from the old linhay with oak and slate floors, cosy window seats, elm spiral staircase and first class linen, Great Burrow Cottage makes a stylish get away retreat surrounded by trees and fields. We love the simple and beautiful design of our Hikki hot tub made of oak and aluminium. It’s a real wood-fired bathing experience. Our first experience of this was amazing, under a full moon listening to the owls. We have made a great outdoor /indoor restful space for our sauna area. Here you can also have a pizza night in. Bake your own in our wood-fired pizza oven or play table tennis and darts. There are great walks directly from the cottage taking in streams, forests and valleys many with beautiful far reaching views of Dartmoor and Bodmin moor. The cottage sleeps up to a maximum of five. It has a master double bedroom and upstairs a big loft bedroom with three single beds and a daybed that converts to a second king size bed. The open plan living room contains two sofas and an arm chair. A cot and highchair are available if required. The kitchen has a vaulted ceiling and slate worktops whilst the contemporary bathroom has a slate floor and large bath with a deluge shower above and hand shower. We use a heat exchange system providing constant hot water with underfloor heating that keeps the temperature just right in Summer and super-cosy in Winter. We also have a woodburner, as you just can't beat a real fire. We aim to make your stay relaxing and peaceful, a real back to nature experience. Enjoy a camp fire round the firepit as the sun sets on Yes Tor; laze in the hammock under the beautiful willows or soak in the hot tub on the deck or hang out inside with Freeview, Superfast Wifi, books and binoculars. Pets are welcome by arrangement with us and a small charge, £20 per stay per pet. We should mention, there is no smoking in the cottage.

Amazing place!
Just returned from a very peaceful long weekend stay as a family (children aged 5,9 and 16) with our two dogs. We really enjoyed the surroundings and tranquil space and loved being in nature. Clean, tidy and with everything you need for a wonderful break. Would recommend. The fresh milk and eggs on arrival was a lovely welcoming touch too, thank you so much Justin and family.
Justin and Mary have been fantastic hosts. We really enjoyed our stay, the walks in Dartmoor and the visit to Bude. All in all, would very much recommend the cottage for anyone looking for a relaxing break in great scenery
The cottage is absolutely wonderful. As soon as we stepped inside, we knew we had made the best decision in choosing to stay there. The surroundings are incredibly stunning and just so peaceful. The cottage itself was warm and snuggly with everything you need supplied. We also particularly LOVED the ping-pong table! It is a really special place and we certainly did not want to leave! Justin was also super responsive and gave us some great tips on local towns to visit. We really recommend a visit to Tavistock for a mooch around Pannier Market and Country Cheeses! We also highly recommend a visit to Lydford Gorge - it is absolutely incredible and far exceeded our expectations! I would not hesitate in recommending this cottage and will absolutely stay again in the future!

Great Burrow Cottage is in the heart of West Devon countryside, overlooking Dartmoor and approx 30 mins form the beautiful North Cornwall beaches.
It is perfectly located to take advantage of a full range of activities. We are happy to give you bespoke ideas about things to do and see when you arrive. Dartmoor, Bodmin moor and Exmoor are all within easy driving distance whilst fifteen minutes drive away is the castle town of Okehampton and the Cathedral city of Exeter about 30 minutes. The market towns of Tavistock and Launceston are also within easy reach.
Dartmoor offers horse riding, cycling, walking and great pubs whilst the North Cornwall coast has world-class surfing, miles of sandy beaches, fascinating rock pools and stunning cliff top walks. In addition there are excellent golf courses, water sports, and fishing.
Stretch your legs with a 40 min walk from the cottage through a stream and a farmyard to a local pub serving great pub food and real ale.
Nearby Widgery Cross is a great introduction to Dartmoor. Take the footbridge or hop the stepping stones over the river and picnic right there, take a wild swim or yomp up the Tor for breathtaking views to N and S coasts. Lunch at the fabulous Dartmoor Inn.
Go surfing at Widemouth and bring home fresh fish from the local fishmongers in Bude to have at the cottage later by the fire or on the BBQ.
At high tide walk along the cliff path from Bude then back along miles of wide sandy beaches at low tide, taking in the huge round rocks of Duck Pool, the NT cafe at Sandymouth and back to dinner overlooking the sea at Life's a Beach.
Take an exhilarating ride on horseback up on the moor from one of our many local riding schools.
Stroll around Tavistock's panier market and pick up delicious local produce from its select delis and stalls. Coffee or lunch at The Cornish Arms is our favourite, then a browse round the antiques and bookshops.

Plenty of off-road parking. We are just off the A30 near Okehampton, Devon. Okehampton Rail station is 10 minutes away with fast trains taking from just 3 hours from London Paddington changing at Exeter. You will need a car but could hire one from Exeter or Okehampton.
Exeter, Plymouth airports are one hour away and Newquay airport is 1 hour 30 minutes from the cottage.
We are really central for Devon/Cornwall so getting to north and south coasts is possible, down to the Eden Project, up to RHS Rosemoor. There so much to do!
