What a memorable stay at Wynkoop House. It’s not every day you get to visit a historic home that feels alive, and it’s really not every day you get to stay there overnight. As everyone comments, the house is elegantly furnished, the gardens are immaculately maintained, and the setting is romantic — but what really differentiates Wynkoop from other rentals is that it is clearly a real home, created by real people who love living there. There are stacks of interesting books that make you want to open them, beautiful glassware and china that make you want to take care of them, and intriguing pictures and engravings on the walls that make you want to look closer at them — all of which will make you wish you could invite the owners back for drinks to discuss art and history. Incredible — we will be back!

this house offers the opportunity to step on the other side of the velvet rope and sleep in a museum, stepping back in time. The house and grounds are beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The house is beautifully cared for and a piece of history. It’s a very interesting and special place to stay; a rare find and feels like you’re staying in a museum. Despite the age of the house the bedrooms and bathrooms are very comfortable and the walls are so thick you can’t hear noises outside or in other parts of the house. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything needed to prepare meals. The rules about what you can use and what you can’t are clear and very reasonable. We always enjoy visiting this area as there are plenty of places to hike. We also visited a craft brewery with a large outdoor space after our hike which was a good respite. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at this house.
