What a magnificent and peaceful place on the ocean! Dave could not have been more friendly, helpful, and informative about where to find everything. No wonder they are booked so far in advance. I am so grateful for my time at Betsy and Dave's cabin - what an idyllic spot! It was even more special by getting to meet Dave, and learning about the history of the area, as well as the family traditions that make the grounds even more enchanting. I hope to visit again!
This was our second stay and we (2 humans and 2 dogs) enjoyed it even more than the first time! If you are looking for a quiet getaway surrounded by nature, this is the place for you. 15 mins away from Damariscotta, a Hannaford grocery store, and plenty of restaurants. We prepped most meals at home but did enjoy a few meals out (Ann’s Book Bistro and Newcastle Public House were both great). If you stay in spring or fall, make sure to bring cozy clothing as the house doesn’t have central heating. However, the fireplace and space heaters kept the rooms nice and warm. Also, on a clear evening you can see just about every constellation from the deck or from the primary bedroom just off the deck. Use this stay as a chance to get your to-be-read book stack whittled down, play games, and solve puzzles. We plan to make this place our go-to escape for years to come.

My family of four stayed at Betsy and Dave’s cottage for four nights at the end of October, and it was truly special. We spent hours reading on the deck, we watched every sunrise, we explored the peninsula, and we counted the many lobster boats and bald eagles that passed by. This space is a cherished family cottage in a serene, peaceful setting. We enjoyed exploring Damariscotta and visiting the Pemaquid lighthouse. But most of all we loved sitting by the water and sitting by the fire. Dave was super helpful with suggestions and quick with answers. We would love to be able to stay here again.

We enjoy traveling. Our children are grown - our primary residence is in Connecticut. Dave and I have enjoyed sharing our year round CT home to guests and have, recently, opened Dave's family cottage and cabin in Maine for guests. Maine summers are special with 5 generations learning traditions of blueberry picking in july/august, sunset cruises on the family wooden lobster boat TODARO, fishing and learning the sites and sounds of nature. Like home in Connecticut, the Maine properties are lived in and homey. Books galore, games and clean, fresh air with beautiful views. Captain Dave is a seasoned boat Captain and I love being 'first mate' although most of his nieces, nephews and sons are totally sea worthy. Blue moon, eclipse, eagles and sunsets, hikes, runs, lobster (and more lobster) and spectacular September. Activities in the nearby town of Damariscotta are fabulous in October! Our Oktoberfest guests were great and had a blast both at the cabin and in town at the parade and events. Capt'n Dave was the moon in the 2014 parade and made the front page of the Lincoln County Newspaper! We are thankful for great pictures sent by our August guests of the Eagle that sat majestically for photos on a beautiful sunset evening....there is a picture in our Nest and Cabin for all to enjoy. Many thanks for sending. Incredibly thoughtful and most appreciated. A special shout out (thanks) for our photographer guest who gussied up our cabin photos to show the cabins true nature and lovely surroundings.....!! We met wonderful folks and it was a joy to show them the magic of mid coast Maine. See you soon!
