Worthy View not only offers a room with a view, (and it is breath taking), but also, it offers humans who care! From Leslie, the owner, who we booked with, to Joe, who took us to and from the airport and who would have taken us anywhere we wanted to go in Jamaica if we desired, to Shamille and Georgia who made gorgeous food and kept everything just so at the Villa...the whole team made us feel 'home away from home' comfortable, welcome and safe.

So pleased we changed our routine spring break vacation from Maui to Jamaica. The air travel was a bit longer but it was well worth. I will disclose that I have a family connection to the Worthy View Cottage but we did pay market rates and book through Air BnB. I will say I am disappointed that we took so long to take this trip. It was an absolute pleasure. The staff at Worthy View was superb in the meal preparation and house accommodations. The biggest challenge of our week stay was learning to relax. Our group included 3 teen agers (2 girls 15 plus an 18 year old boy). The enjoyed the pool, beach, wifi, and the wonderful meals. We did take one excursion to the Blue Hole and our recommended driver Joe was a great guide and made sure we were well taken care of with correct guides and services. The family was lucky to have a few visits from Ginger the cat during the week and made the week feel a little like home. The AC units were great and were welcome for those that like to sleep in cool temps. The large TV was helpful to keep up on the NCAA basketball tournament or US broadcast news networks. Only mistake here was forgetting our Chromecast as we could have streamed Netflix, etc. but that is OK as it was vacation. My wife is already scheduling a return with her girlfriends for their annual warm weather trip. Settling up with the commissary was easy and convenient.

We were greeted by the darling Beverly and Chamikee who shiwed us the house and there was a small welcome gift of rum. The house was older but as expected and very clean . Everyday we were spoiled with delicious Jamaican dishes . We were also invited to the home of the owners aunt for cmas dinner. My daughter was also delighted to arrive home from a busy day and fibd a birthday decorated house!

Shortly after booking the property, the host requested additional money. Airbnb resolved this for me. The listing is inaccurate. Per the listing, the property includes two helpers. When we arrived at the property, a helper asked us to review the guestbook. We reviewed the guestbook the day before we left. In the book we found that the two helpers were not included with the property, as per the listing. In fact, we had to pay for not two helpers, but three helpers (the third was the yardman) at the standard rate of $3 per day per guest per helper for seven days equals $126 (going rate for a helper in Jamaica is only $55 per week), for a total of $378 ($126 x 3) prior to our departing and that the amount is to be paid in cash and to each individual, per the guestbook, which is not mentioned in the listing and outrageous, but usual and customary per the host's guestbook. This practice of requesting additional funds in cash outside of airbnb is in violation of airbnb, but required per the guestbook. In fact, the guest book calculates the amount you owe for you. Again the $378 was above and beyond the amount we had agreed upon. We should not have been expected to pay additional fees that was not part of our agreement. We traveled in September 2016, when there was a hurricane watch, which was downgraded to a tropical storm. One host asked us to leave because there may be a storm and a few days later, we got a call from Leslie who suggested that we leave because of the hurricane, which never occurred. Never were we offered any compensation or assistance in locating alternative accommodations, if they were really worried about our safety. The beach is not a few steps away from the home. it's about a 10 minute walk. The home lighting in the home is poor. Additionally, there is nothing to do at the home in the evenings. No TV or radio. We were also without hot water for one night and had to shower at the home of a relative.

A slice of paradise! We were greeted by our driver Joe at the airport. On our way to Worthy View we stopped for groceries and then at Scotchies for the most amazing jerk chicken and pork and some festivals. Upon arriving we were greeted by the staff and had a tour of the house and grounds. The view of the ocean is absolutely breathtaking! The house and pool are surrounded with tropical flowers. The rooms were bright and clean and all looked out onto views of the gardens or the ocean. We were able to choose our menu ahead of time, but would really recommend trying the local Jamaican dishes the staff will happily prepare for you. Try the bammies with guava jelly, ackee and saltfish and local lobster. Because we went in the heat of August we spent most of our time in the pool overlooking the ocean or on the beach which was a 10 minute easy walk away. At the beach club we were able to book massages and they came and did them by the pool at the house. You can also book some excursions at the beach club. We would definitely return!
