Great place to stay near Silver City. The house was small but perfect for a little getaway with easy access to the Gila National Forest. There were deer that came through the property each morning and evening.

Tom’s place is great. It is a well-equipped quiet calm respite near terrific hikes and beautiful scenery. We will return again.

Pinos Altos Cottage was perfect! This Casita sits at 7k feet elevation next to Gila National Park and is surrounded by nature that envelopes your stay providing quiet relaxation and endless opportunity to explore. The cottage is sized best for 2 with a comfort that makes you wish it was your own. The description is exactly as we found it and Tom was a kind and gracious host. Silver City is a quick and easy 15-ish minute drive away…but you’ll not want to go there for anything but groceries once you’ve arrived in Pinos Altos. We spent days hiking all the amazing trails in Gila, our favorite being the Continental Divide Trails which are a quick 5 minutes away! We already miss the stars, mule deer, and amazing mornings sitting with coffee reading outside on the porch. Thank you, Tom, for allowing to stay! Our 5 days in Pinos Altos were the highlight of our two week road trip through the Rockies and into New Mexico.

The casita is beautiful and very comfortable. Gorgeous setting, very quiet. Loved the light in the house and the passive solar heating. Lots of information about local area. Communication with hosts was great. We used the house as a convenient base for hiking and for sightseeing in Silver City.
