There aren’t really enough words for the magic that is Birdwing. We were drawn in by the bevy of glowing reviews, and I’m so glad we were. If you’re looking for a beautiful, peaceful place to stay, this is it. Fritz was so helpful and accommodating, in every way. We so loved having a chat over breakfast (delicious, by the way!) and hearing about the life that he and Annie have built. This was a real highlight and we - like others - left feeling a little sad that we live so far away. (Fritz is the kind of neighbour that you’d love to have.) The garden view from the room is amazing and the personal touches in the room really make you feel that you are a treasured guest. While here we spotted wallabies, possums, fuzzy bumblebees and could hear happy kookaburras. Deloraine is a short drive away, with fantastic dining options. Driving to Cradle is doable if you’re happy to drive a bit. A car is a good idea overall. We really do hope to visit this wonderful BnB again one day. Thank you!
We had a lovely and relaxing stay. Fritz made extra effort to accommodate us on a warm day, driving us to a local river to enjoy a swim. He also prepared a delicious breakfast with everything one could imagine. A perfect getaway.

Birdwing B&B is a perfect little farm getaway. The B&B is in it's own little completely separate house with private entrance. The house has a very comfy bed, a bathroom and laundry, a kitchen with microwave and oven, and a living room area full of books. The highlight of this B&B is the garden, especially out the back near the big pond. It's absolutely stunning. We were even allowed to venture out to the veggie garden and pick our own raspberries. The B&B is in Weegena, which is basically only farms, but you are 30 minutes away from Sheffield or Deloraine, and about an hour and 15 from Cradle Mountain, which is where we went. The B&B is a technology escape too, at the time of this review there is no Wi-Fi or TV. One of us had a little mobile data. I read the books available. Next time I'll bring my portable Nintendo. I would recommend this B&B to anyone who wants a quiet, private and beautiful place to stay. An excellent place to rest after a day hiking or exploring nature.
A beautiful rustic location with lovely gardens and friendly accommodating hosts. Most enjoyable.

We have recently retired and love living here in our home in the country. Sixteen years ago we chose to live in the beautiful Deloraine area, a vibrant and artistic community. Fritz belongs to a choir and I am involved in the local arts group as well as being a guide in the art gallery in Launceston. On our 30 acres which includes a large rambling garden and natural bush, we have chooks and some sheep and two loved and fairly well behaved dogs. Fritz has worked in Papua new Guinea most of his working life, mainly in community development, and I lived and worked with him for a number of years. We loved working in that interesting country. However it is a joy for us to be both here at Birdwing and opening our small bed and breakfast business. This was a dream we have had for many years and now that we are, we are loving meeting people and sharing our place with them. Annie enjoys cooking so we provide delicious breakfasts using local food. We both love gardening and being outdoors; reading by the fire in winter seems a delightful indulgence!
