We always look forward to our visits here, and I find myself looking for excuses to return at any point in the year! Mike knows how to curate a welcoming atmosphere and is super responsive and considerate. He went above and beyond to ensure our comfort during our stay. We remain charmed by such a unique venue -thanks Mike :)
Mike's place is beautifully quiet and cozy. we loved the fireplace in the living room and hot tub out the back. we watched a couple of films on the large projector - Mike had some great recommendations and a huge selection of films! the house itself is super fun - the interior is quirky, colourful and unique. I can see how all the little pieces were gathered throughout the years to add to the interior. the kitchen is small but has everything you might need. that's another thing that surprised me - there were so many useful/handy things in the space! the gardens and the lake view were wonderful - we really enjoyed our breakfast in the conservatory. We also got to pet the family cat - very exciting! I SUPER recommend this stay for anyone looking for a quiet getaway. And Belfast City centre is only a 30 min drive away!
Great
We had a fabulous stay in Mike’s cottage. It was lovely to arrive to a warm fire and a freshly baked loaf of bread. The highlights for us were lying in the hot tub watching the stars at night or looking over the lake in the daytime and watching two great movies on the massive home cinema screen - 3D glasses supplied ! The art work inside and out gave the cottage its unique charm. Mike was attentive and friendly and we felt very much at home. It’s only a few minutes to Killyleagh and main roads so it’s very easy to explore the beautiful area. As it was the end of November we didn’t do too much but enjoyed a few walks, meals out and of course relaxing by the fire. We would definitely return at any time and a huge thank you to Mike for his hospitality.
Mike couldn't have provided a better stay for us. His place is beautiful and full of lovely art pieces. the projector and hot tub are particular highlights. Mike himself is extremely nice and greeted us with a beautiful home baked loaf of bread. the house was beautiful and peaceful. Will definitely be back. (he's also a great musician)

I live in the country outside Killyleagh, I am a songwriter/musician, photographer and gardener. My late wife Ruth was a garden designer and extraordinary artist and between 2000 and 2013 we crafted this very unusual house and garden.
