Es war unser zweiter Besuch an diesem wundervoll magischen Ort. Ich denke, das sagt bereits alles. Unsere Kinder lieben diese Unterkunft ebenso. Ich hoffe, wir haben die Möglichkeit, diese Unterkunft in der Zukunft ein weiteres Mal besuchen zu können. Ein Traum. Danke Marta und Christina, dass ihr dieses Paradies mit uns geteilt habt!!!

The most beautiful location! It was very peaceful after the bustle of Sintra. And the house was utterly charming. Most people would want a car - we didn’t have one, but Marta and Christina recommended Nuno, who drove us anyplace we wanted for a reasonable price. Sitting outside to eat, or by the pool we enjoyed the views of woods and valleys - all the way to the ocean! A magical and unique stay.

Other reviews do a great job of describing the peaceful beauty of this place. Amazing views to the sea & quiet considering the bustle of Sintra and the palaces nearby. Red squirrels in the walnut trees, owls at night. House is as described, well equipped and comfortable- pool is a bit “rustic” but we enjoyed using it anyway. The back road out of the estate is useful as you get out to Colares and the spectacular coast (10-15km) without tangling with Sintra. You can’t really drive out on the Sintra side during the day during high season - crazy traffic, but we drove up to the medieval pub and parked there some days - it made the walk into Sintra manageable (It isn’t that long a walk from the house but some steep sections). Hosts provided v generous & welcome food and wine etc on arrival, I recommend stopping at a supermarket on your way in as there aren’t any larger ones very close - the small ones in Colares are fine though. Adega de Colares winery well worth a visit!

Me and my daughter, we stayed in the house for 5 nights. The surroundings are really fantastic. The property is about 10ha, covered with forest. The house is on a slope of a hill, there are picturesque views on the valley below, you can even see the ocean which is not that far away. One of the things that I enjoyed was sitting in front of the house at a table, watching the evening sun sinking into the ocean, and drinking some fine Portuguese wine. The house itself is an ancient hermitage. So if you are looking for controlled temperature and air conditioning, elevators, thermostat controlled hot water etc., then you will be disappointed. But this house is difficult to describe, it has its own character, it even has a soul. The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, you feel safe and protected there. Also, the swimming pool is great. We were greeted by Marta, one of the owners of the house. She has a vibrant personality, and she makes delicious quiche. I will go back there next year.
