We rented this property for out-of-state guests that were traveling to our wedding. Overall we all had a wonderful time. Great location, right on the lake. I was extra happy that the swimming conditions were perfect....no weeds that typically come with lakes. The house is charming and well decorated. My only warning to guests is that if you have anyone in your party that has issues with walking at steep inclines, they may not find it easy to get back and forth from the house to the water. Other than that the weekend was a hit!

Our overall view of the house was that it was a giant overpriced facade. The closer you looked at things the more and more flaws we found. We understood it was an older house and accepted that going into it. However what we didn't accept was two of the three showers to be covered in soap scum (master bedroom) and mold (loft bathroom). We were disgusted and didn't use either luckily the second bathroom on second floor was usable. So we had all 12 of us using the same shower because of this. Next issue was that this house including the loft apartment does not fit the 13 people as it suggests. The max of the house should be 10, to get to 13 you either need to sleep on couch or bring air mattresses. For what your paying for this overpriced house you shouldn't have multiple people not having beds; it just doesn't make sense. There was also a major safety issue with the staircase going to the loft because it was basically falling off the wall and was terrifying. Next thing was that everything kitchen needed to be washed from utensils to pots and pans before use. Next issue was the BBQ it is broken and filthy. We bought over $300 worth of meats to grill that basically was wasted cause we couldn't cook them the way they were intended. We were stuck cooking BBQ meats inside on the stove and oven. It took over 2 hours to cook; we wasted an hour attempting to get the food to cook on the grill. We couldn't get the grill to get above 200 degrees; probably because it was never cleaned. The positives were the porch, the view of lake, and the kitchen had a great layout for cooking. I’ve stayed at multiple air bnbs and I've always received a message or phone call checking in on us after check in and I received nothing. We basically were on our own. However she did grant my wish of checking in early which was appreciated. I sit here after the fact wondering did I stay at a different house then all these positive reviews. Of course we had a good time but that wasn’t because of the house and amenities it was because of the people that were there with us.

The house is a bit older than the pictures suggest, so expect things to be a little worn or the need to have your own items. I would plan on bringing most things just to save yourself any surprises. The house sits on a steep hill that has to be traversed to reach the lake. The lake itself was amazing and is the true value of the property, especially since the weather was great. It's enough to make you forget about the little quirks of the house. We didn't turn on the tv or a tablet for the entire week. Rented a boat from Lake's End and had a blast on the water with the family. There seems to be other guests staying in the basement and the other house on the property, which we did see from time to time, but they did not otherwise interfere with out stay. Great place for a group that is fine with a more rustic setting. Close to farm stands and local businesses, some restaurants have waterfront seating on the lake or allow you to dock and eat out of your boat.

Though house and grounds were beautiful, the host knocked down the review from 3 to 2 stars. She was not as responsive as I read in the reviews. Especially given the fact that we arrived the day after Storm Isaias. There were no flashlights, no generator, and we were instructed not to use candles as it would be a liability. Electricity did not come back for over 24 hours. We then had to fiddle with the generator and circuit breakers when power did return. We felt like we rented an overpriced house only to feel uncomfortable and had to purchase our own amenities (more than those listed). Be prepared to bring towels (house/beach), utensils (for eating and cooking),cutting boards, knives, cups (if you have more than 8 guests) and anything you were supplied in other Air B&B rentals. There were also maggots growing in the garbage cans because the trash had not been picked up for many days. One trash bag was supplied and we were required to bring a specific kind of toilet paper because we only had enough to "get us started." We did not have hot water on the final day we were leaving (excluding the days electricity was out). Though asked, we were not informed about anyone staying on the property nor an additional person using their dock. Overall the guests and I made the best out of what we could but were really disappointed.
