The Watermill house cottage was a welcome retreat after a few busy days traveling. The serenity of the location, river and house itself was wonderful! Great location for taking the train to Porto (Aida was very helpful with info and there are train/metro cards in the cottage to load with trips at the station). A glass of wine out by the river or hike from the gate makes you feel like you are a part of nature. Loved it there!

Aida ha sido una anfitriona excelente, muy amable y pendiente de nosotros en todo momento. Agradecemos el todos los detalles que tuvo con nosotros, nos dejó una botella de vino espumoso y unas galletas de chocolate, fruta y otras cosas. La casa muy bonita y confortable, con todo lo que podíamos necesitar tanto de menaje, productos dr higiene, toallas, etc…Si algo hay que objetar es que para llegar el camino está muy mal y es necesario un coche alto pues en el último tramo hay unas rocas que pueden dañar los bajos, esto es algo que creo que debería advertirse para no ir con según que vehículos. Por lo demás, el lugar es súper tranquilo y estuvimos muy muy bien. Muchas gracias por todo Aida!!

Lovely house with studio (we were there with 3 persons). We felt at home immediately. It was a pity we were there only a few days; lot of books (in several languages, most in Dutch) to read. We were a little bit afraid the house would be cold in wintertime (december); but the woodfire was perfect. It took some time before the original cold was out of the house, but no problem. Lot of rain during our stay, it was a pity we could not walk a lot, but the view at the fast streaming river was great! The sauna was nice... It must be a great place in summertime! The very last part of the road was not easy to drive, but we managed with a Fiat 500. No need for a SUV, as we read in a review. But you need to be careful...

Dit is een bijzondere accommodatie. Als je dicht bij Porto in de buurt wil zitten, maar ook op jezelf in de natuur wil zijn is dit een hele mooie fijne plek. De supermarkt en het station (naar Porto) zijn met de auto heel dicht bij. Het laatste stukje van de weg naar de watermolen is onverhard en ruig, dus rustig aan met je (huur)auto hier. wij hebben genoten.

If you are looking for peace and quiet this is it. If you’re looking for traditional this is not it. Going to Aida’s is an adventure at the end of a rocky lane that isn’t listed on maps. It’s just you and nature and a river whose sounds lull you to sleep. There are trails all around from level 1 to 5 that go for miles. I recommend a car so that after nature immersion you can drive easily to the beach or vineyards from 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hr drive. When you come back it feels like coming home. You are on your own to decide your adventures. Aida is always available for questions and/or help and she went above and beyond for our issues during our 2 week stay. Not a place for people who want to be pampered with traditional vacation homes. It’s for the adventurous and those who want to experience nature
