One of my all time favourite accomodations in the world! Ricardo & Margarida were friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. Retro balcony with beautiful Portuguese wall tiles and stunning ocean view are a highlight. Interior well set up, comfortable bed and huge wood closets, large bathroom (w/ bathtub), kitchen with small fridge + hot plate, TV + couch, table. Location is best part - 5 minute walk to beach stretching down to caves at Northern end and breakwater at Southern end, with boardwalks that span the length of the ecologically significant sand dunes. We loved the boat tour of grotto/caves with local tour guides Pedro + Emma on "Trigana" - original 1960s cargo ship from Lisbon; recommend Ostraria for local oysters, seafood + fabulous service; Cult N Art Cafe run by sweet couple with wholesome local food + gifts. Recommend Upgrade salon for beauty needs!! Alvor is a gem. Accommodation is fantastic value and hosts wonderfully heartfelt - would love to come back :)

Ricardo was extremely friendly and helpful. We got an early check in and a late checkout which was great. He advised us in advance there was maintenance work going on and offered a full refund if required. The maintenance did not interfere with our enjoyment of the apartment. It is compact and basic. 100m to the beach and a STUNNING view. Best part was the sound of crashing waves and crickets all night long. Very relaxing holiday. Even in terrible weather (storm bernard!)

Overall, Ricardo's place is quite good. It is close to the beach, has a great view of the beach/ocean, has a spacious patio that effectively helps one forget that it is essentially a bachelor suite and is close to amenities. Ricardo himself is very social and you can see he likes to help. Upon first entering, the apartment is a bit of a letdown in that it is a fairly old building and the room shows it, but it does grow on you and I noticed the age less as the days passed. There are a few little things that could be fixed up/repaired that I passed on to Ricardo so maybe some of them will be resolved before you show up. I'm a sucker for powerful showers but this puppy was something else ... in an almost too good of a way! If you are looking for a pressure wash, this is your dream spot, but it is possible to turn it low enough to not get blown over by the impressive pressure!
