Our place is a unique rustic retreat with friendly dogs in Arembepe, Bahia, about an hour drive away from the city of Salvador. Come stay with us, let the Brazilian sun warm your body and our adorable dogs warm your heart! . We offer eco-accommodation constructed in a traditional Native Brazilian adobe style with modern facilities and internet access within a natural conservation area, perfect for those seeking inner peace and happiness whilst spending time with our pack of very friendly dogs. Sabiá is a mezzanine-style lodge with the sleeping area accessible by a sturdy and short, knurled wooden ladder. On the lower floor there is a cozy living room with a hammock, where a mattress can be added, if required. . Sabiá is equipped with a private bathroom, desk, storage space, and a double bed which will comfortably accommodate two people. It is perfectly balanced with modern amenities and a warm shower. It is ideal for those looking to work remotely in a relaxing environment, with wifi available throughout, and plenty of accessible sockets within for charging electrical appliances. . The area of the retreat Bela Natureza is large with many old trees offering nice shade and a chance to cool down. It provides guests with countless opportunities to roam around, be at one with nature, collect mangoes, meditate, and even do yoga or light sports. Here, we offer rental of two little ecological earth lodges and a double suite, named according to the native singing birds: Sabiá, Bem-Te-Vi, and Curió. Each is constructed in a traditional Native Brazilian adobe style from local materials and topped with a handsome thatched roof. The lodges are equipped with modern facilities and internet access in the public areas, making them suitable for those wishing to engage in creative pursuits such as taking a sabbatical, writing or painting. . For all our guests, we prepare and offer complimentary continental breakfast with tasty regional goodies and tropical fruit. Moreover guests are welcome to use a external refreshment area and all common areas of the retreat, meditation pavilion or hammocks amongst the mango trees. You will have the use of these spaces for most of the day, however, the holistic center occasionally runs healing courses or eco-workshops at which times some of them will be occupied. . Free parking is available at the property for our guests. Please let us know, if you are arriving by car. . Our guests will have the unique opportunity to interact with our many friendly and healthy dogs. The dogs are a great source of affection, relaxation and healing. They are an integral part of the retreat, and we hope that guests will be happy to spend time with them. We’re sure their doggy bliss will rub off on you!

Retreat Bela Natureza is a sacred space for healing. It's my second time at the Retreat and, like the last, it's been transformative. Before arriving, I was feeling unbalanced and exhausted — and the Revitalize package was exactly what I needed to restore my energy. The experience of deeply connecting with nature (gathering fresh fruit from the land, swimming in the ocean, dancing around a fire, listening to the birds sing, playing with the resident family of dogs, etc) has brought me back to life. And, Evelyn's ability to truly see someone, hold space and offer the healing practice(s) needed is a gift. I highly recommend the Retreat and exploring all it has to offer. I'm already planning my next trip back!
Neste paraíso chamado Arembepe, 15 cães, todos castrados e muito bem cuidados nos ensina a sermos pessoas melhores, para nós mesmos e para os outros . Tem Foquinha, a que tudo observa e fiscaliza ; Princesa, um pacotinho de amor embrulhado em laço cor de rosa, como diz Evelyn ; Lobo, Pajé, Bambina e por aí vai...cada um com sua personalidade própria e cativante. Sem contar a paz e sossego do sítio e a hospitalidade de Evelyn e seu jeito todo especial em acolher seus visitantes. Voltarei mais vezes com certeza e ainda quero fazer a meditação com os dogs!
Gracias Evelyn por recibirnos :-) Pasamos una semana hermosa en Arembepe y también recorrimos otras playas cercanas de la zona. Evelyn fue muy amable de pasarnos todos los datos y recomendaciones. Evelyn es muy atenta y cálida, nos hizo sentir muy cómodos. El lugar es muy lindo para pasar unos días de relax. Nos encanto arrancar el día con un excelente desayuno, muy completo con frutas del lugar y el mejor café. El sitio es hermoso, lleno de vegetación, los perros son amorosos y la casita donde te hospedas es acogedora. Para ir a la playa o centro donde hacer las compras hay que caminar 600m hasta donde está la parada de colectivo y de ahí son 10min. El único inconveniente es que solo funcionan hasta las 20hs. Recomendable para ir a pasar unos días y desconectarse de todo.

Our retreat is situated in a secure condominium inside the rural community of Coqueiro de Arembepe, rich in lush greenery, flowing with meandering riverside vegetation, and home to wild birds and small monkeys. The atmosphere here is friendly, and the dappled forests surrounding the village are perfect for long relaxing walks to gently unwind. In Coqueiro, less than a five minute walk away, you can find small shops with beverages, fruit and vegetables, fresh bread, eggs, milk, and all basic necessities.

Across the road (about a 35 minute walk and a 15 minute bicycle ride away) is the charming fishing village of Arembepe with a historic background, beaches offering bathing and surfing, and plenty of traditional local cuisine. Around the main square, you can find food stands, hidden bars, supermarkets, pharmacies, gyms, cash machines, tourist shops, and a local church. The more vibrant main beach is surrounded by beautiful reefs which protect the swimmers from the breaking waves and create tranquil natural pools heated by the sun.

Projeto TAMAR is the major marine turtle conservation project in Brazil, spread across several coastal areas of the country. One of branches of the project is located in Arembepe, and is open for visitors on weekends. The main conservation spot and visitor center is located in Praia do Forte, another charming sea village with beautiful beaches, a popular destination for local and international tourists. Praia do Forte, which is about a half-hour drive away, offers a myriad of quaint shops with regional souvenirs and crafts, and many restaurants and cafes with local and international cuisine. Apart from hosting the biggest Projeto TAMAR spot, the village is also home to Projeto Baleia Jubarte, which offers seasonal whale-watching tours.

If you want to get to know the historic city of Salvador da Bahia, it is easy to make a day-trip as it is only an hour drive away from our retreat, except for rush hours in Salvador. It´s easy as well to take a bus. Salvador boasts regional museums, shops, parks, movie theaters, concert halls, open air concerts and performances, and much more. It is the heart of the state of Bahia, one of the most interesting and historically rich states in Brazil, with a very unique culture influenced by African traditions. It is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and natural landscapes in South America.
The central square of the fishing village of Arembepe is 3,5 km away from our retreat. It is easily reachable by foot, bicycle, bus or car.

Guests can easily reach Praia do Forte and the city of Salvador de Bahia by bus or by car. The bus stops nearby, at the highway BA-099 ("Estrada de Côco"). Busses run from early morning (around 5 am) until the evening (around 8:30 pm). Praia do Forte is 30 km away, the international airport of Salvador is 28 km away, and the historical center of Salvador is 60 km away.

It is possible to arrange airport pick up for the guests, if they arrive during daytime, for an additional fee. This may be discussed with us directly. Also, guests can take an official taxi from the international airport of Salvador (guests can buy the ticket inside the airport building, which costs about 160 RS).

We would like to let you know more about the option of having a guided tour to the historic city of Salvador da Bahia, or to many places of interest further up the coast such as Praia do Forte, Imbassai, Mangue Seco, and other interesting beaches, rivers and natural reserves, as well to Chapada Diamantina.

I believe in the healing power of nature and animals. As a child, I grew up on a rural property near São Paulo, with loving and lovable animals and a strong tie to everything green. For a long time I had been carrying and sharing the vision of a harmonious natural space that would provide a deep connection between the natural environment, the Human Being, and his own self. Then it was, some years ago, that I encountered this beautiful place: in Bahia, caressed by the soft sea breeze, shaded by ancient and generous mango trees, sucupiras, and mangaba trees, in the cradle of a magnificent old cashew tree… this is the nature Retreat Bela Natureza, in Coqueiro de Arembepe. And now, my dream is that more and more people become integrated to this powerful, unique love of nature, for the good of all and of our planet.
