The house is located in a very quiet place, but it's very well connected and has every kind of shops, bars and restaurants around, where you can find everything you need.
Only 5 minutes away walking is the "Parque del Retiro", the biggest park in Madrid, adequate for making exercise, going for a walk, reading or having a drink in a terrace.
5 minutes away walking to the north is the Reina Sofía Museum, and 10 minutes away walking you arrive to El Prado Museum and Thyssen Museum. These are the three most important museums in the Madrid, called as The Triangle of Arts, placed in the District of Letters, and provide a huge offer for those who are lovers of paintings and arts.
The cultural offer in the area is completed with the cultural centers of "Caixa Forum" and "Círculo de Bellas Artes", also located in the District of Letters, "La Casa Encendida" and the "Circo Price", placed at 5 minutes walking to the south, and following is the "Tabacalera" (social center self managed by the neighbours of Lavapiés). At 5 more minutes walking to the south is the huge cultural center called "Matadero". In all these cultural centers all kind of expositions, workshops, concerts, film seasons, theatre and other cultural events.
Close to home are the main districts in the city for having drinks and tapas. The alternative district of Lavapiés is at only 5 minutes walking from home, and it takes 10 minutes walking to arrive to the districts of Huertas and La Latina. In La Latina it takes place every Sunday the most popular and full of life street market of “El Rastro”. In any of these districts it's also possible to have a fun time having dinner and afterwards drinking all night long, in all the night bars, clubs and discos, or you can also easily go in public transport or even walking to the modern districts of Chueca and Malasaña. In all these districts there is also a huge amount of concert halls that provide a great offer of musical concerts of all kinds.
In order to visit the downtown of Madrid, you can arrive after 15 minutes walking, or quicker in public transport to the "Puerta del Sol" and "Gran Vía", the main street of Madrid, full of all kind of commercial shops, or to "Plaza Mayor", the District of the Austrias or to the Opera.

Atocha train Station:
It is 2 minutes away walking. From Atocha depart long distance and high speed (AVE) trains to all destinations in Spain, and short distance trains to all places in the Community of Madrid.
Subway train (Metro):
Line 1 (sky blue) - Atocha Renfe, in Atocha Station, rides to south, centre and north of the city.
Line 3 (yellow) - Palos de la Frontera, placed 5 minutes walking away, rides to downtown in 5 minutes.
Urban buses:
From Paseo de las Delicias (1 minute walking), a huge amount of urban buses ride to all directions in the south, centre and north of Madrid, and there are also night buses ("buhos"), for getting around during the night.
Méndez Álvaro Bus Station:
It is 10 minutes away walking or by metro, from which depart interprovincial buses to all places in Spain.
By car:
There is a public car park available a few meters from the apartment, and an easy exit by car by means of the M30 and M40 ring roads.
