Loubens-Lauragais · 袖珍小屋 · 1室0床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Tiny House: Summer in the heart of Lauragais
Take a break from the norm and come and stay at our lovely Tiny House, set on 1.2 hectares of land in the middle of the beautiful Lauragais region. Entirely powered by our own solar panels, and watered by our own well, this is an escape into nature you won't forget. Wander up to the lovely 10th C village (5 minutes walk away), or travel 40 minutes to the bustling rosy centre of Toulouse, or 1 hour from the medieval wonder that is Carcassonne. Over the past 7 years, we have let nature reclaim parts of this land (which previously hosted horses and had been farmland). Large areas of the 1.2 hectares have been left to regenerate, and there are loads of butterflies, grasshoppers, birds that have returned to enjoy the variety of plants that have grown up. You may spot our resident red squirrel, or hear the cries of the woodpecker that lives in one of the trees in the hedge. You will have access to all the land when you stay with us, so you can wander through our orchard, sit in the shade of an old walnut tree or pick blackberries from the hedge. Or, you can stick closer to the Tiny House and hang out in our shady acacia grove, maybe gently swinging in a hammock... This is an eco-consious space, and has a dry toilet that is then composted. There is no flushing toilet. Instead, we provide ample sawdust for you to use, a clean bio-degradable bag system and a dedicated compost system, which we will show you how to use. The water from the taps is not drinkable water. We will provide bottled drinkable water for you (3 liters per person, per day). The water from the tap is perfectly good to wash dishes in, rinse vegetables and to shower, wash your hands and brush your teeth with. It has got quite a lot of calcium in it, so we don't use it in cooking, preferring to boil drinking water for tea, coffee, and other cooking. Overall, we encourage our guests to use water sparingly - it comes from our well and the solar panels run the pump, so please do be conscious of both water and electricity consumption. We have 3 chickens that freely roam the land, and they may come and say hello (particuarly if you are eating outside). Don't worry, they are fully autonomous with access to food and water at all times, and will put themselves to bed at night.
We had a great time at the tiny house, it’s an amazing space with a great view of the sunset. We unfortunately couldn’t have a fire/use the outside oven because of the drought however the hammocks and the stars at night made up for it. The chickens were so easy and friendly they even put themselves to bed. Was a bit apprehensive about the dry toilet but in the end it was actually quite pleasant and didn’t smell. The tiny house was equipped with everything we could ever need and it was surprisingly spacious. I would definitely recommend staying there! Erica and Nicolas are both so lovely and helpful.
The Tiny House is a 5 minutes walk to the picturesque village of Loubens-Lauragais where you can find a lovely little restaurant. 10 minutes away you will find Caraman - a larger village with bakeries, a butcher, vegetable shops and a little supermarket. There's also a couple of pharmacies, flower shops, and hardware stores. You'll also find lots of lovely little restaurants and a bar here.
It's a 45 minute countryside drive to the big city of Toulouse.
This really is a perfect spot to blend countryside, village life and access to Big City excitement.
Please be aware that Toulouse has recently installed a Clean Air Zone which restricts polluting cars from driving into the City Centre. There is a metro stop 30 minutes drive away from the Tiny House, which whisks you into the centre of Toulouse in 10 minutes - parking is free when you show your metro ticket.
In the middle of the countryside, so you will likely need a car if you are going to go far. There are lovely walks and bike rides around the village and surrounding areas, but public transport is infrequent.
