I stayed with David for just under a week. Ideal for a single person in the Altea area for some cycling in the local mountains. David's home is humble and a bohemian, but the welcome is BIG and very welcoming. I had many good conversations with David on a number of topics which we seemed to agree quite strongly on. This made my stay so much more than such small talk with a host, but something worthwhile and mentally stimulating. The location is superb, with only 30 seconds to the beach and 5 minutes or so up to Altea chapel on top of the hill and all the local restaurants. I would definitely consider staying with David again and am happy to recommend this location to others.

By far the worst mattress we've slept on in our lives, it is threadbare with sharp springs digging into your back making it impossible to sleep well. The house was really dirty with thick layers of dust on most surfaces and a strong smell of smoke. I developed a cough during my time there. I asked in advance whether the wifi was good, I was told it had been cutting out lately but that he would get it fixed. 4 days before our stay I asked whether he had done anything about it and he said "not yet.." I had to insist that he take action. The owner was continually disrupting our stay despite initially stating the most important thing was that we felt comfortable. He played music loudly in the morning whilst I was teaching online (which I had made sure he knew beforehand) and then said he didn't realise we were in. The following day we were woken up by his guitar playing at midnight. There are more things but I don't have the space to write. He clearly doesn't care about his guests at all.

David has a lovely artsy house one street from the beach. The room and private bathroom were lovely. Communication with David went smooth, and I felt immediately welcomed. He even provided a few restaurant recommendations. He was gone the weekend I was there so we didn't get to chat much. A little warning to light sleepers like me: the house is near a main road, so bring earplugs. I slept fine with them. Thank you, David, for your hospitality!
