Our stay at the Chateau was absolutely wonderful and we enjoyed Dave and Judy. Breakfast was wonderful everyday. The amenities are top notch and the environment was very relaxing and pristine (especially Max and the Chickens). Thank you for restoring this magnificent Chateau!

Great chateau, wonderful location. the room is incredible and we always had replies to any questions right away. Savoie is wonderful and chateau st Philippe is a classic way to enjoy a French chateau.

We stayed a week at Chateau Saint Philippe and wish we could have stayed longer. To provide some perspective, we are a large family traveling together for the holidays and we were looking for a place large enough to accommodate everyone in an intimate setting where we would see each other, which can be difficult in certain hotels. If you're a fan of antiquity and buildings steeped in history then this place is perfect for you. A thousand year old chateau complete with the remnants of a Roman highway straddling the property. I won't give away all the details from the tour (gamely provided by Dave, the property manager) but this place will give history buffs quite a workout googling details piecing together the history. Just touring the chateau grounds is good for at least a half day of entertainment. The local area is highly accessible to Chambery, Annecy, Lyon, and Chamonix. The rooms are large and clean. Some rooms have showers and others baths but hot water is generally well supplied, though it may take awhile for the rooms further from the water heater. The heat is outstanding, we generally had to lower the temperature throughout the chateau during our Christmas stay. There are enough seating areas for a large group to spread about comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped for our self catering needs. We had a couple of grandmas and foodies in our group that made sure there was something stewing/frying/sauteing all day and we could not have asked for more. There is enough dining space for at least 20 people eating simultaneously in two tables. The daily breakfast supplied is superb. Dave heads out to the local bakery at 7am and brings back fresh bread. A 5 liter pot of coffee and granola and yogurt round out the meal. We realized the value of this when we moved to our next airbnb which didn't feature breakfast. Imagine having to fix your own cup of coffee early in the morning. Oh the horror! Beer was also supplied but we are not big drinkers so it stayed intact. Wifi is properly installed throughout the castle. Granted the speed is as good as it gets for rural France, signal is strong in most rooms as wifi routers have been scattered generously to provide coverage through difficult stone walls. The theater and game room are brilliant. You'll never feel like you're out in the wilderness. The maintenance is top notch. A thousand year old home is not an easy place to keep running smoothly, specially with antique door locks and doodads spread about in keeping with the theme. Dave makes sure everything works and if anything needs working on just inform him and it gets done within the day. Special mention goes to the resident property manager Dave and his assistant Virginie. Anything you need, from tourist information to maintenance requirements, Dave will fix you up. He'll even accompany the group to serve as an interpreter. Virginie took care of the cleaning from the kitchen to the bedrooms. We felt bad she had to do so many dishes that we washed as many as we could when she wasn't around. They are worth their weight in gold to make the experience as near hotel-like as possible. Dave is the consummate host, ensuring your stay is stress free as a holiday should be while staying in the background and not being too obtrusive. And finally, for extra entertainment there's the resident mascot Max, a hundred pound Bernese mountain dog that the kids wanted to bring home. Sure the chateau is a bit more expensive than your standard Airbnb stay, but it is within your budget I highly recommend the place for a worry free vacation.
