This place is magnificent.. so peaceful. The whole goal of this farm is to provide work for single mothers which is amazing. It is an ADVENTURE getting here. You 1000% need a 4x4 with good clearance and don’t try driving it at night (like I did..). But please visit this slice of heaven. Note that power is provided by solar during the day then a generator at night for a few hours. Overnight there won’t be power which means the refrigerator will turn off (you should bring food and drinks with you as there is nothing nearby) WiFi is great here while the power is on too! Before checking in or after checking out … They have a store and restaurant about 30 minutes away which is a must too. Thank you all for being such incredible people. @SteveSaysGo

During the Coronavirus pandemic our original hotel closed down and we had to find a new place to wait out the travel restrictions and country border closures. We were very anxious and were not sure how things would turn out, but we were very pleasantly surprised at the coffee Finca. The road to get here is indeed a 4WD road, so keep that in mind - our Range Rover Classic made it fine (dry day). We were warmly welcomed by the manager Nohelia, and welcomed online by the off-site owner (Jarrod). The chalet is rustic, so keep that in mind as well. Since we travel overland it was totally fine for us, but here are the rustic aspects: 1. General power is from solar panels, so if the day is especially rainy or cloudy you might not have power during the day. For an extra charge you can have them run a generator in the evening (we chose 6pm to 9pm) for lights and charging and wifi. 2. Hot water comes from a wood-fired tank, so don’t expect a hot shower every morning. We made our own fires every few days for an evening shower. That said, the shower is awesome once the fire heats up the tank (about 2.5 hrs), and if you stoke it before bed you can have a warm shower the next morning! We also combined doing our laundry with our hot shower days, and that worked well. 3. Kitchen use is another additional charge - it is not included in the base price. The charge allows you to use the propane fridge and stove/oven, and I think the staff will cook and clean for you for the same charge, or it might cost a bit more for that. 4. We believe the water is from rainwater collection, because after a hard rain the water from the shower can be a little dirty. The staff provide you with bottled water for drinking, and are very good at bringing new bottles before you need it. 5. There is no heating or air conditioning, but there is a wood stove if it ever got really cold. We usually left the front door and upstairs door and windows open during the day and that worked well for us. And they will give you additional blankets without you even having to ask. The pros of this place are that it is really truly beautiful here - you can go hiking and walking, and you can learn about coffee farming. There are all kinds of flowers and birds, and it is very relaxing. It is also cooler up here in the mountains, which was a nice change for us, as we were in the hot valley near Choluteca originally. The staff are extremely nice and helpful, and we appreciated them coming by every few days with clean towels and sheets and water. Ultimate peace and quiet! Travel to the remote is an adventure. You will drive through the mountain tops, 4 wheel drive a must. The residence view of The Valley and mountains are spectacular. In the hammock you have amazing views of the mountains and hummingbirds feeding around you. The farm / mission supports the local community in many ways. The farm is run by women giving them opportunity to provide income for their family. If interested, many simple ways to help the local community, just ask. In this very remote location, we were supplied with electric, WiFi and hot water for shower / bathing. The accommodations were extremely clean, fresh towels, big master bath, beds were comfortable and soft. If you are in need of true relaxation, highly recommend. Great location for those hiking through Central America.
