Riverbend Lepak is a great base camp for exploring nature in SE Florida. Direct access to explore the South Fork of the Saint Lucie River by canoe or kyak to see alligators and a wide variety of birds. Manatees sometimes hang out around the dock and feed on the shoreline vegetation. Stuart is home to the Florida Oceanagraphic Coastal Center a marine life nature center. Visit the Loggerhead Marinelife Center a sea turtle rehab facility. Rent a board from a local surf shop and hit the waves for a possible upclose meeting with dolphins at a nearby beach.

Riverbend Lepak is a short walk or a brief bicycle trip from Halpatiokee Park located across the river. A few bicycles are at the house for guests to use. Publix, Cracker Barrel, Popeyes, Wendy's, Taco Bell and McDonald's are walking/biking distance from the house. The house also has ocean access by boat ( with some bridge clearance depending on tide). Public transportation is available but not very convenient and trips to the beach or downtown would be best done by car. There is free parking space for two guest vehicles on site.
