Confusing listing and difficult check-in, but wonderful experience in the end! The listing is unclear, but this place is meant for people who are bringing their own tent. That wasn’t evident to me until after I booked it, at which point Petar said my partner and I could stay in the guest bedroom for an extra fee. That seemed a little odd, but I agreed. Check in was a nightmare. In the weeks leading up to our stay, Petar kept badgering me for an exact arrival time, even after I repeatedly said I wasn't sure and would let him know a few hours before our arrival. The morning of, I told him we'd be there around 6-7 PM, and then sent our exact expected ETA about an hour before we got there. I also asked for the coordinates, since the listing's address DOES NOT EXIST ON GOOGLE MAPS. No response came to either of these messages. My partner found coordinates hidden somewhere in the email confirmation, but those did not take us to the correct house (though they were close). A picture of the front gate in the listing would really be helpful. Petar continued to ignore my messages (later, when I started trying to call him, he did answer. He was apologetic for the trouble and had some story about losing his phone and being up in the mountains, which didn't make a whole lot of sense as to why he could answer a phone call but not an email, but whatever). We only found the place after I'd begun to worry it didn't actually exist and had started to look up alternative plans for that night, but find it we did. HOWEVER! Once that mess was over, this home was wonderfuL! I never actually met Petar, but his parents--who owned the house where we were staying--were some of the loveliest people I've ever met. We relied on Google Translate and pantomime to communicate, and that worked pretty well. They fed us three full meals, including bread they baked themselves, homemade wine made from grapes in their garden, traditional stuffed peppers, zucchini cakes, a sort of lamb brisket stew, cucumber soup, etc. They were very sweet and kept heaping our plates high. They refused payment for the food--and even the extra fee for staying in the house that Petar had said I owed. They also lent us bikes so we could ride over the Danube and into Romania. Absolutely wonderful people--I highly recommend staying here!
