This place is beautiful! As I walked in the room the sun was shining through the skylight and the whole room was bright and airy and smelt so good! Sitting looking out of the window at the view and passers by was my favourite thing to do. I wasn’t lucky with the weather on my first day so I couldn’t have my window open unfortunately but I made up for it on the second day, even getting up super early to make the most of it. The room was spotless which I’m sure, is difficult to do in an old church! Hosts were responsive to messages as I had a slight issue a they tried their hardest to resolve it. I was a bit unnerved at night, just because it was SO quiet and I live in a busy loud house so that took some getting used to but you just have to embrace it. I’m definitely coming back and I’m bringing my friends to experience the beauty and stillness with me! Oh! Slaithwaite up the road is a must for a walk along the canal and the local farm shop cafe too!

If you want somewhere to relax and chill out this is a great choice. I’m someone very much into fragrances and the use of St Eval Bay and Rosemary Reed Diffusers throughout were an added delight - I’ve now introduced them to my own home! There are a couple of places within walking distance for food and drinks and the surrounding vistas capture the rugged rural beauty of the location.

Absolutely perfect! From the moment I arrived, peace and calm descended. The Retreat is beautifully decorated in an elegant, understated way, and everything felt like it had been given a great deal of thought, such as the fresh and cosy throws. The fragrance as you enter is beautiful, and it subtly permeates the building. My room, the Sanctuary was spotless, and has stunning views from the window seat. I was very fortunate, in so far as the sun shone and the birds sang, so I was able to experience the place in all its glory, but suspect it is equally stunning when the clouds gather and the thunder roars. I spent the most restorative weekend at this place, and I will definitely return.
