We had a fantastic stay at Ambleside Lodge, really lovely house in gorgeous surroundings. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again.

This is a really special house in a pretty unique situation. Everything that you could want is provided and there are staff on site, but out of sight, to provide help if you want it. But it’s very quiet, and very private, with stunning views from all the rooms and from the wonderful stoep. Wi-Fi via a Vodacom SIM is good if you can work out how to load up the SIM with data and pay for it. Otherwise MTN will provide a useable 3G connection. It felt very safe and we were free to walk over the both the adjoining wilderness area and some of the local estate paths. Underberg, 30mins, has lots of small shops and a very good Spar, but closer to the house just a few minutes away is Eland's Rest shop which will provide the basics. And then there's the scenery ... really beautiful hills, mountains, meadows, flowers, rivers, rushing streams, birds and beasts - this was in January/ February. We will go back, if we can.
