mimi带着一只叫leo的博美犬，详细为我们介绍了她的桥头堡。她四年前买下了这个bridgegate，并花费了三年逐步恢复历史外观并建设现代化的内饰，而这座城堡始建于1881年，历时40年，几经易主才最终建成…她打开了这座墙头堡的另外一间套房，用简单易懂的词汇介绍她的城堡建设历程和规划：例如瞭望台改造成BBQ花园，警卫室被改造成桑拿房，装修时发现的鸟窝被保护起来，目前顶楼锥形棚内还住着一对夫妇三位小孩的猫头鹰家族。当前这个主卧套房仅有主卧，因此无法提供给我们入驻使用，mimi特别提醒我们，在二楼偏房正在被改造成一个双人床的房间，这儿有一堵墙上，保留了历史上就存在的，可直达河面的简易马桶（图5），mimi还亲自示范拧起沉重的马桶石盖，太可爱了…自从我儿子女儿入住后，他们便有很深的代入感，儿子在拍照时候，总是挺胸抬头，高举旗帜，自称是荣耀的骑士，毕生的责任和使命是保护小墅公主。据说每个女生都有公主梦，现在小女儿公主的脾气可大了…这个童话桥段太老套，但我觉得挺贴切，每个公主的身边都会有一个骑士，骑士比王子早来到公主身边，他时时刻刻都陪伴在公主身边，永远保护她，但最终带走公主的，只能是王子…

Lovely peaceful location and the accommodation was obviously something different! Great place to stop on our travels, very warm and cosy despite the style!

The place is beautiful and the castle bridge very "Instable" , good comfy bed and spacious main room with a well equipped kitchen, but we found it cold with not enough heating (electric small heaters), big extremely cold staircase in between the rooms, very small second bedroom (only for children Rey) with heater right next to the bed so not the safest, drafty windows, fireplace didn't work properly, filled the living room with smoke, the cottage is not the best in terms of sound insulation in the main room. I believe the other properties at the castle might be better, the "Bridge House" looked better in the pictures, one is ok but for Scotland too cold, very different from the other properties we stayed through out our trip.

The most unique and interesting place we've rented - the kids thought it was the most neat thing to stay in a real castle! Easy to get in, clear instructions.

I stayed for one night and the location was beautiful. There are several restaurant options in nearby towns, about 20 mins away. Miriam was extremely helpful and kind when we arrived. The rooms were warm and comfortable, the blankets and linens also provided ample warmth. For its historic age and build, the place was remarkably clean. So glad I booked. My only warning for people is to make sure you rent a car and know the roads can be narrow in Scotland.
