Maria makes you immediately feel like you are family. She cares and is helpful. Her adult son Aldo is the co-host and he is great. Aldo is fluent in English and has a wealth of knowledge about San Jose and Costa Rica and can make anything happen you need! Aldo took me to a Sorpresa futbol game and he helped another person staying there navigate getting their car fixed. The Tibás location is excellent. Easy $3-4 Uber to downtown San Jose and I did walk back from downtown San Jose in about 25 minutes. Neighborhood always felt safe for me walking and Walmart was 10 minutes walk. I am a runner and found the area great for that. I had a loop up into Tibas near the stadium and back down to the highway sidewalk. I was there 4 weeks and it served me well for the long term stay. Maria helped me make connections and took me to a downtown festival that was going on. Very helpful family!

Maria and her warm family were great hosts and the house is large, comfortable, and well situated. It takes about 5-10minutes to walk to a bus stop that will take you directly into town in about 10 minutes. There is a large gym with a covered outdoor pool and hot tub a 5-10 minute walk away, which I very much enjoyed. I found the location to be perfect! The house is a large two story place with two living room areas, a study, a large eat-in kitchen, a laundry room out back, and 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (although one bathroom is inside a room and belongs to that room, so I never used it). Huge, lots of space to relax! The house is kept extremely clean, with daily cleaning. The room itself had everything needed, including a comfy (and new) bed, a large armoire closet, and a desk and chair. Maria is such a warm and welcoming person, and she will do her very best to make your stay comfortable and to make you feel at home. For example, she allowed me to change the mattress on my bed (I switched rooms at one point and preferred that mattress). The kitchen is kept clean as well, with the fridge being cleaned weekly. Maria was always offering breakfast food and making me feel like part of the family. Maria was also good with communication, answering messages quickly and being responsive to any requests. I made an ask of her early on, and she was able to hear me and was just so accommodating - I was very grateful to her and her family for providing me with such a great place to stay while I was in San Jose for two months. I highly recommend Maria's place to my fellow travelers!
