i arrived by bus and the beautiful 20 minute walk up to the guesthouse was so peaceful and scenic. through the sliding doors i got welcomed immediately with a hot herbal tea. the room had a fantastic view and bed was comfy. the house is amazing with it's japanese authenticity and warmth. the hosts and their amazing cute son were so friendly and wonderful people. i should have stayed here longer. would definitely recommend. lot's to see in the area, even got to see a local festival and ceremony. i hope to come by again in this lifetime 🎏🎑🛖🎎🩵🎐

Kota and Kanako were wonderful hosts and so kind to open their beautiful homes to guests. It was a very well maintained and quiet property. They also dropped me back by car to the nearest bus stop on my return and offered pick up when I was arriving. Great spacious common area to relax at during the day and convenient and clean bathroom, beds, and tatami mats. Great view right from the room as well. They also offer paid home cooked breakfast, dinner if needed, which can come really handy. You might see some bugs here and there, just because of being in a forestry area (not because the place wasn’t clean). The bugs don’t bother at all and are easy to take care of - coming from someone who is not very comfortable with the bugs, I had wonderful stay.

Kota is very nice and the place is superb. If I only have planned my trips well, I should have booked more nights here and explore more. The meals they prepare were also great! If you are planning to just have a day tour in Shirakawago heritage village, you might consider staying for a night or two and explore the area.

There are being a lot to say about Kota&Kanako’s place. You’ll find everything is well thought over and everywhere is superbly clean. Kota is very friendly. Staying here makes you feel like treasuring all of beautiful and good things in life. Strongly recommend. I wish I could be come for staying longer next time.

Felt like home. They've created a very cozy, homey place where you’ll have everything you need (food, tea, beer, showers, nature). The owners/hosts are so kind and welcoming. They picked me up and dropped me off! (Bus station is a 20 min walk from their place). They gave me great local recommendations + the nearby onsen is DREAMY. The food they prepare is delicious and lovingly made. You can definitely hear their toddler son running around in the morning which I loved, they’re such a sweet family, felt like home.
