The perfect retreat on a beautiful island. Matias' house is lovely, with great outdoor space, and everything else you might need for a relaxing holiday. We had fantastic weather, so the pool was very welcome (we were swimming every day). The outdoor BBQ and terrace was perfect for lunchtime or evening, and the village shop stocks a range of meats, local cheeses, bread, local wines, beers and all sorts of other groceries - it's a 5 minute walk from the house, as are bars/restaurants. The garden is really interesting - full of native plant species and with lots of birdlife and lizards. We arrived at the time when the local Cory's Shearwaters were breeding on the cliffs behind the house, and their strange calls filled the air every night as the sun went down. We even saw whales from the house balcony! Matias was an excellent host - always responsive and helpful and obviously proud of his home and El Hierro. We are already missing the place! We will be back!

We had a really good time staying at this great house of Matias during new years 2022. You find a nice view from the terrace directly over the village to the sea. If you wake up early enough you can even see the sunrise from there. The pool is a bit chilly but was even in winter a nice refreshment if there is enough sun (which was the case during our stay). The doors in the house could be a bit smoother, some of them are jamming on the floor - but nothing that would be a big problem to handle. The communication was great and we got everything that we needed immediately (e.g. we ran out of gas and the bottles were exchanged instantly). thanks for having us!

Matías's house is located on a hill overlooking the village of Tamaduste and the ocean. This alone is an excellent reason to stay in this place. Within a few minutes of a walk you can get to a local natural swimming pool with great snorkeling where you can spot various fish and even rays. The backyard provides plenty of privacy and places to relax, including a swimming pool and a well-kept garden. The house in itself is spacious, with a large bedroom (with a very large comfortable bed) and an adjacent bathroom, a living room with kitchen, a second bathroom, another bedroom, and a laundry. There's also a big terrace with comfortable furniture to enjoy the views. The Internet works quite well (up to 40/50 mbps download, about 20 mbps upload) so we could work there without any issues. Matías took our request to work from his house very seriously and organized an office room in one of the bedrooms. The kitchen is well-equipped with various appliances and utensils. The fridge is located in another room which is a little inconvenient for cooking (same for the oven). Things that could be improved include badly-fitted front door (you have to push it with a lot of force to open it), badly-working sliding doors to one of the bathrooms, a bit dated creaking furniture (for example one of the sofas in the living room), issues with a shower head in one of the bathrooms, and hot water pressure (it's not that bad but it isn't great, either). Matías is a very attentive host who quickly solves any problems the guests may have. We stayed in the house for almost two weeks and it was a nice place to relax and be away from it all (though at the same time within a short drive from Villa de Valverde).
