Very quiet and nice. Though a but difficult to navigate to, Ali and Nicholas were very responsive so everything went smoothly. The house was nice and spacious with excellent outside areas and balcony. Ali brought us food for breakfast for which we paid an OK price. The cleaning lady was there everyday which was a great service.

PROS: Idyllic location couldn't be more perfect, incredible staff, really special part of Zanzibar next to a traditional fishing village. No tourists around. CONS: Inaccurate listing photos (showed full kitchen with an oven and 4 burner stove, house only had 2 burner cooktop which did not work well at all). House really needs to be cleaned. Several times we found excrement from wild animals in the kitchen and in the sink. Rooms smelled very strongly of mildew and house was very dirty (dust and dirt on shelves and dishes, spider web accumulation throughout). Termites and cockroaches were in all the rooms and in the beds because mosquito nets had holes, termite wood shavings were on many surfaces every day. Bathroom had some kind of buildup on walls, toilet wasn't clean. Internet didn't work most of the time even though we were told in advance it was stable. At first the host told me he wanted to address all the issues but then he became defensive and stopped responding. A real shame :(

We had an amazing week here -it is a swimmers paradise ! The tide comes in twice a day and at high tide you can have the whole bay to yourselves and swim to close by beaches in a perfect sea ! Utterly beautiful ! At low tide with shoes on you can walk to the local resort hotel for a beer ! The area is remote and you feel totally integrated into local life by buying food from the traders , so if you’re expecting a supermarket around the corner , think again ! Leave western expectations behind as this is real Africa Ali is super and organised all our trips -tip-arrange trips around low tide if swimming fans and take the local currency as not everybody accepts dollars. The snorkelling trip was amazing , plus visit to Bigbody community spice farm -( dollars ok here ) -buy spices there not in Stonetown as this contributes directly to the farmers. We also had trips to the forest to see the monkeys , trip to the caves for a cold swim and to two east coast towns for a change of scenery.
