The beachside location is the stand out feature of sandpiper cottages. Unfortunately our cottage, Hanolay , had dirty windows in the master bedroom and kitchen , which would not unlock, There was no extraction fan in the bathroom and the oven and tray for cooking / baking needed cleaning , which I undertook. The basket of eggs , bread and butter and jam was and milk was welcome as was the fresh ground coffee and tea supplies . John did communicate effectively about event in the area such at the light show at Bicheno. For lovers of flora and fauna it’s a good spot to see bird life and wallabies and possums at dusk . I was unfortunately put off by the brusque manner of the receptionist, instead of showing us to the cabin , she gave vague instructions in a curt manner about it being ‘near the water tank’ As a former host of a property i feel she fell short of her job. As a dog friendly cottage I understand how owners often give you the basics in case of damage.

Sandpiper cottages were cosy and close to the beach. We liked the idea of closing off the deck so the dogs could go outside. The place was ideal for us and close enough for an evening trip to Bicheno to see the lightshow in July.

This is a little gem of a place. 5 minutes out of Bicheno, a perfect little cabin and a short stroll through the dunes to the beach. Pure magic!

Nice and secluded cottage about 5-10 mins from Bicheno center and 3 minutes from Natureworld. Upon arrival we received a breakfast basket with eggs, cereals and jam which was very appreciated. The rooms are clean and comfortable, we could even do a BBQ!
