This is such a lovely place to retreat from the world for a few days. It is private, clean and connects one with nature again. The beach is a 2 minute walk away and it was great to have space to meditate, do breathe work as well as mingle with others while joining a yoga class. This is definitely going to be my 'go to' to retreat from now on. Thank you!

Peaceful location and environment, for mental and spiritual health. Thai restaurant was so good, including the decor. Best cafe is the Vintage Village cafe. Beach was a short 20min walk. Ubers are barely there. I loved the decor and the cabin itself. Was hard getting to the shower and bathroom as they were external to the cabin, bathroom was a bit dirty at times with used toilet paper on the seat so probably be more careful with this. You can join the ashram classes at anytime. As a Sanātani, I did this for Diwali and to reground myself, this place did exactly that. The only suggestion I would have is for the yoga classes that someone else takes, not Swami ji as much is to try incorporate more of the Indigenous words with a brief explanation of the meaning to avoid whitewashing the yogic practice. Volunteering is great, but challenge yourself by slowly starting to incorporate core words. e.g. "Savasana, the final resting pose to surrender" vs "relax on your back and let go."

Exactly what I needed to stay enjoy the nature in the area. Swami was polite and friendly. Cottage is comfortable and minimalistic but has everything you require. Comfortable bed.

I could not reccomend swamis place enough. I came for 3 days of peace and left feeling rejuvenated and happy. the hut is supposedly basic but I found it comfortable and actually luxurious. a comfortable bed. a kettle with an array of teas. a hot plate if you wanted to cook. I didn't I visited the thai down the road and the beach front bar. both highly reccomended. the shower although outside was instant hot water and powerful. overall excellent value for money, especially if you take part in the complimentary yoga and meditation.

This place is an oasis of calm, a haven of peace. The perfect place for a one who wants solitude to ground themselves, disconnect from a stressful life and self reflect. Swami Madhuram is wonderful host, nothing but kindness and thoughtfulness, his calmness is contagious. The location is perfect, super accessible by train+bus from Wellington and just a few steps from shops, excellent restaurants, café, the beach, and lots of day walks. I felt so happy, serene and content in my little cabine that I left with a heavy heart but I will come back. Thank you 🙏
