The house location is 90% of what you're paying for here. Situated near the end of a small culdesac and looking out on a serene river and the large rocks surrounding it. You felt more isolated than you really were given the neighbor's proximity, and access to the river was lovely. However, the cabin is a bit worn down and could use some much needed homeowner love. Old comforters and blankets, worn down rugs that were a bit of a trip hazard in the main walkway, and a large couch full of mouse poop that has seen better days. (Mountain mice can be a pain but it seems to be a big problem here). As serene as this spot is, you can feel the wear and tear from years of visitors and I hope the owners take the time to invest in some upkeep or a remodel. While the kitchen is really well stocked, there wasn't a sharp chef's knife or knife sharpener around so make sure you bring your own. Also double check that the dishes are fully cleaned. I think the dishwasher might be ineffective.
We had a group of 10 and needed to find a spot close to the Valley. Located in Wawona and about 40 minutes from the valley, this house has a homey cabin feel. A large kitchen which was great for entertaining and you can’t complain about the backyard. The South Fork of the Merced River was just a hop skip and a jump from the home and you woke up every morning to beautiful picturesque views from the house.

Ideal home for 3 families traveling together. The set up was perfect with plenty of communal spaces for spending quality time together, both inside and outside on the deck. The upstairs/downstairs gave the kids/teens their private space as well. The kitchen was amazingly stocked and having the extra refrigerator and 2nd dishwasher was useful for our big group. We were happy to be a short walk to the local market for picking up last minute necessities (they sell a little if everything). The kids loved exploring the river that runs behind the house. We visited in the Spring, but this home would be great year-round!
What a wonderful home- many thanks to the owners for making their special retreat available for others to enjoy. For the cooks out there, this is a dream kitchen with all the tools you need along with 2 dishwashers, 2 refrigerators and plenty of space for family and friends to gather. And then there is the deck, overlooking the river with an abundance of seats to soak in the peaceful landscape or gaze at stars. There is a market close by for last minute essentials and even a small washer/dryer for emergency loads. The Redwoods in Yosemite staff are so pleasant to work with and extremely helpful. We absolutely loved our stay and hope to visit again soon.
