La Balsa is located at an altitude of 1200 meters in a beautiful hiking area at the foot of the Sierra Nevada. Here you can still enjoy peace and absolute silence, clean air. The farm is within walking distance of two villages with a large public swimming pool, a supermarket and several bars and restaurants. You can walk, cycle or horseback ride into the Sierra Nevada from our farm and you can take the most beautiful walks with our homemade hiking book. Double room with terrace and private entrance on the first floor. On the ground floor there are two common bathrooms and a large common kitchen with a wood burning stove which is accessed via an external staircase. The bedrooms do not have heating, but we have electric radiators for rent for 10 euros p.n. All rooms have a magnificent view of the Sierra Nevada.

Nous n’avons passé qu’une nuit chez Marion, mais c’était super. Les propriétaires sont des hôtes très accueillants et à l’écoute. La maison est perdue dans les champs, mais vous avez tout de même accès au village à pied avec toutes les comodités.
Don’t hesitate to book Marion’s place. From the minute we made a booking Marion was very responsive on the messages and made us feel right on at ease with our booking. The location is fabulous and surrounded by snowy mountains and lots of nature. We even got a room, upgraded free of charge. Marion is super laidback and a non-intrusive host, we respected this about her.
We had such a lovely stay. Marion and her husband are great hosts and they made us feel at home. We had a great time chatting with other guests as well. The views from the rooms are amazing!! We highly recommend you stay here.

Our house is located in the quiet countryside, but many activities are possible, such as hiking, horseback riding or cycling (we have four ATBs). Swimming enthusiasts can take a dip on the raft next to the house from a visit to the village swimming pool.
In Alquife you will find a supermarket, Coviran, near the church. It opens at 9:30 AM, closes from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM and closes again at 8:30 PM. The ATM is around the corner. The bakery is on the main street and opens at 09:30. Next to the town hall is a greengrocer that opens at 09:30 and closes at 13:30. (Monday, Wednesday and Friday only).
food and drink
Tapas are free in our region. In Alquife you can enjoy pastries and tapas at the bar on the main road.
In the La Lanteira you will find Bar Félix around the corner (closed on Mondays). There are no restaurants in Alquife, but there is Lanteira: Altozano (three course menu €15 or €20).
The swimming pool is open in July and August and has a bar and restaurant.
On Wednesday morning you can visit the castle of La Calahorra (entrance 3 euros).
In Guadix you can visit the famous cave houses and a large regional market on Saturdays.
There are two buses a day to the village.
Train station at 23 km. in the village of Guadix.
For €50 we take you with our own car from Alquife to Granada or from Granada to Alquife and for €15 from or to Guadix.
During your stay we can drive you around for €0.30 per km.

We zijn een Nederlands stel en wonen de helft van het jaar in Amsterdam en de helft in ons hostel in de Sierra Nevada, in de provincie Granada in Spanje. Marion heeft gewerkt als sociaal werker en verkoopt nu paardrijvakanties in Spanje en Bart is socioloog en gepensioneerde werknemer van een kunstschool in Rotterdam. Ons huis is uitstekend geschikt voor wandelaars en natuurliefhebbers.
