We like to find unique places to stay when we can and the Schoolhouse was exactly that. It turned out to be an outstanding spot. Sleeping and waking in this large open area brought unexpected smiles. Everything was as described. Finding the location and checking in was seamless. The back deck is large and private. The living space is bigger than it looks with approx 12’ ceiling. The property is located up and along the east mountain ridge of the Shenandoah Valley so you can really feel that you have ascended up and above the surrounding area. The mysterious facility “Weather Mountain” is about 4 miles further up the mountain. We came across this while exploring the area and thought it was interesting. Make sure you visit the ‘Bears Den Lookout’ for a sunset. It’s well worth the short hike. Yes the bath/kitchen are combined but we found it to be an interesting quirk and had no issue. Comfy eclectic quality decor. If you want to be out of the city to make day trips this spot is a winner.

This is a very unique, charming, comfortable, and wonderful place to stay. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, the hosts are top notch, responsive, and very accommodating for any request. We had such a lovely weekend here, we would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and private getaway!
