Valsot · 整套民居 · 6室8床4.5卫 · 可住12人 · Old renovated house in the Swiss Alps - Schilana80
This typical Engadine house in the village Ramosch is over 300 years old but was carefully renovated. Modern elements and top-quality interior design, harmonize perfectly with the original structure and antique furniture, exclusively from the region. The house with its 330 square meters of living space offers plenty of space for up to 12 guests. Schilana 80 is not an ordinary rental property, but the holiday home of a Swiss family living abroad, who counts on the renter’s special care. The house Schilana 80 has the traditional structure of a three-story Engadine farmhouse on four floors. The architect Duri Vital from the neighboring village of Sent renovated it in 2010 with great respect for the traditional construction, creating a successful blend of old and new. In the spring of 2021, the attic was renovated and converted into a large, bright living room with a dormer that offers a wide view of the valley. The ground floor The entrance leads into a so-called Sulèr, the large central entrance hall. A long table with plenty of chairs makes it the communicative heart of the house. The living room is paneled with old larch wood; with its stonewalled oven and a comfortable sofa inites you to spend relaxing hours of leisure. The luxuriously equipped dining kitchen offers direct access to a large panoramic terrace with open-air seating. The ground floor also offerst a bedroom with two beds and a bathroom (shower and toilet). The First floor The long, spacious corridor on the first floor leads to the music room (“Zimmer 4” on the floor plan) with piano, three bedrooms (a larger room with a comfortable sofa and two single beds ,“Zimmer 3”, as well as two smaller rooms with double beds, “Zimmer 1” and “Zimmer 2”) and a bathroom (bath, shower and WC). (A fourth bedroom, “Zimmer 5” is not accessible, as it is the private room of the Swiss owners living abroad). The attic The bright room offers a comfortable place to stay on 56 square meters with sofas and armchairs around a fireplace. There are also a billiard table and a kitchenette. From there you come to another guestroom with a double bed and a bathroom (shower/toilet). The basement The wooden doorway to the lower ground floor opens onto the former stable yard, through which the cows used to be led to the stables of the adjacent building. This space now houses another guest room with a sofa/double bed (“Keller 2” on the floor plan) as well as a spacious sauna with an adjacent bathroom (“Keller 3”) and a separate laundry room. (The room “Keller 1” is not accessible to tenants).
We had a lovely time in this wonderful home. There is a small shop 100 meters away which has a lot of locally produced food and bakeries, like the best tuorta da nuschs I ever had. The environment is just beautiful with lots of possibilities to hike and visit historic and cultural places. And not to forget the Sauna, our secret favorite. I would definitely recommend Tim's place to anyone.
Ramosch in summer and winter
Ramosch in the Lower Engadine is located at 1’230 meters above sea level in the midst of an idyllic and pitoresque landscape, framed by an impressive mountain backdrop. As one of the least rainy places in Switzerland it is considered the warmest place of the Engadine in summer. The mild climate and good soil conditions once made Ramosch and the higher located village Vnà to the “granary” of the Engadine. On the slopes around Ramosch the stepped terraces of the former fields still bear witness of this.
In the 6th Century, the first Christian church of the valley was in the village, from wher the Christian community of the Engadine develped. The Florinus church in Ramosch is – after the church of St. Martin in Chur – the second largest Protestant church in the canton. Formerly it served as a sanctuary for pilgrimages due to the legend of Florinus, who had been the pastor in Ramosch in the seventh century and who worked miracles. The village was hit by two devastating fires in 1881 and 1883, only the house, two other buildings and the Church were spared.
The medieval castle ruin Tschanüff is the second attraction of cultural importance in Ramosch. It is located 200 meters from Schilana 80 on top of a hill, which is also known for its special flora. The ruin is the starting point of the trekking trail to the Sinestra Valley.
The Engadine has always been a destination of a special aura. Many writers and artists – including Friedrich Nietzsche – have found their “source of inspiration” in this region: A mountain landscape speckled with silent lakes, remote, rugged valleys, and authentic villages whose residents speak Switzerland’s fourth language – Romansh. A perfect setting for a relaxing holiday at your own pace.
Summer
Ramosch offers everything that the holiday heart desires in summer: quiet hiking trails with breathtaking views, cristal clear lakes for swimming, alpine huts and refuges that offer accommodation for extensive mountain hikes, challenging bike routes, workshops of local artisans, open-air museums, climbing park… Both, adults and kids, will find their very own holiday program.
Winter
Ramosch is situated between three attractive skiing areas. Scuol with 14 lifts and gondolas up to 2785 meters can be reached in 10 minutes by car. The Nauders ski area in Austria takes 20 minutes by car (40 minutes by Postbus) and the one in Samnaun/Ischgl in 30-35 minutes by car (by Postbus just over an hour). The Lower Engadine cross country ski trail down the Inn valley can be reached from the house in a 10 minutes walk. In Sur En, just about 4 km up the valley, there is a round trip ice-skating trail along the Inn river. Furthermore, we recommend the winter-walking and sledging trail from Vnà to Ramosch. Ramosch is the perfect location to start your ski and snowshoe excursions.
