We had a wonderful few days. Matthew was a most attentive and gracious host. The house is so well located for both La Cité and the Bastide. I throughly recommend staying here. We would definitely return!

Our stay at Matthew's wonderful place was everything a good Airbnb should be and more. From the moment I booked, his communication was top notch. He's a brilliant host: friendly, knowledgeable and he clearly loves what he does! He was full of suggestions for exploring the local area - his guides are very useful. Breakfast (including delicious homemade jams) delivered to our door each morning was a real treat. The gite is perfect; don't hesitate to book if you're considering it. It has been beautifully renovated with rustic features like the shutters, beams and antique furniture, and modern touches like the pristine shower rooms (three of them!) and fully-equipped kitchen. As others have said, the beds are extremely comfortable! The setting is magical: tucked away off the bustling street of Rue Trivalle, which winds up to the castle. With the gorgeous gardens, birdsong and chiming bell of the nearby clock, it's a real hidden oasis in Carcassonne. Very thoroughly recommended!

Un appartement un peu comme une maisonnette. Il y a un charme incroyable ici. Le jardin est idyllique. Le calme est si apaisant. La fraîcheur de la pierre ancienne. La douceur des fleurs. Juste quelques carillons de l’église. Et puis il y a la gentillesse de Matthew, sa disponibilité, sa présence discrète. En un mot il y a une âme ici, un peu de la sienne sans doute. Un des airbnb les plus formidables que j’ai loué. L’emplacement est parfait, en contrebas de la fabuleuse cité médiévale. La literie est d’excellente qualité. J’y retournerai assurément. Matthew is an excellent, engaging host. His communication (in English and French) is timely and helpful. He welcomed us warmly on arrival, checked in during our stay, and wished us well on our continuing journey. We loved the provincial charm of our gîte - the well chosen antique furnishing, complemented by a very comfortable bed and all mod cons. His place is ideally situated for both La Cité of Carcassonne and the Bastide, with optional secure parking. Bravo, Matthew!
