Unfortunately, Thistle Lodge was not as described or as per the images. As we arrived it was very cold and the heating didn’t work. Someone did attend to fix it after waiting about an hour it finally warmed up, apart from the main bedroom which didn’t come on all weekend. This is advertised for 6 people which is what we booked for. 4 adults and 2 children. However, we expected there to be a sofa bed at least but there was an airbed which we had to contact to find and when we tried using it, it was punctured. The floors throughout have bad stains which looks like pets have messed on. Really unhygienic if you’re expected to sleep on a airbed on the floor?! The tap in the main Toilet is loose and we noticed mould on the bathroom walls. In the en suite bathroom the shower started leaking onto the floor within minutes. We made the host Andrew aware on departure but he came across unwillingly to discuss and find solution for our poor experience.

I will start off with the positives; - The lodge was easy to find and had lots of space. - The kitchen facilities were great. - The information booklet was very helpful. The negatives; Overall feels unloved and warn out which is disappointing as the photos on air b n b look like everything is to a good standard. The whole lodge felt mixed match like random coffee cups and the decor the same (which I understand is personal preference). The lodge was dusty throughout the carpet in the living room the sofas and pillows were also stained and tatty. The dining chairs were worn too. The shower in the main bathroom wasn’t very good and the tap was loose. The towels available were all mixed matched poor quality. The bedding felt tired and the throws were clicked.

Andrew and Lynn are very good hosts with good communication. The property was as described, clean, warm and comfortable, also set in a peaceful and tranquil surrounding, I would stay here again, thanks.
