A Scientist, Engineer, Educator and Sustainable Farm-steader, I enjoy sharing the beautiful Southern Washington County experience with passers through and vacationers alike. State Line Bunks is a modest 200 yr old home, but warm, inviting, and comfortable. It is suitable for kids 5 yrs and older. Come stay for a bit! Big Red is the name of my farm, and "Quality Begets Quality" is my tag line. If you want top quality chicken, eggs, turkey, honey, maple syrup, or alpaca fiber then Big Red is the place to come. It also happens to be in the heart of Grandma Moses Country, thus surrounded by stunning pastoral views! From the Monks of New Skete's German Shepherds, the Nuns of New Skete's Cheesecake, King's Donuts on Sunday mornings, Two Gals Diner, Battenkill Books, Round House Cafe and Bakery, and the cultural arts at the Hubbard Hall enclave in downtown Cambridge, to tubing & fishing on the famous Battenkill, skiing Willard, Bromley, Stratton or Killington, stopping in for a meal and a pint at Brown's Brewing in Hoosick or Argyle Brewing at the Depot in Cambridge, picking up some beekeeping supplies at Better Bee in Greenwich, finding Grandma Moses prints and memorabilia in the local Antique shops, to the cornucopia of farm fresh veggies, fruits, meats, eggs, cheeses, ice cream & dairy products, wines, maple syrup, honey, hops, and cut flowers Washington County has everything you could possibly want! Add in the quaint and vibrant city of Bennington, VT just 8 miles East of here, where you find the movie theatres, bowling allies, fine restaurants, and glass and pottery arts. Up the road a bit explore all of the outlet shopping of Manchester, VT, then head 30 miles west to attend a ballet or concert at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, or catch a few hours of thoroughbred or flat track racing in Saratoga Springs, NY. When you go through Schuylerville be sure to stop at Amigo's Cantina for an authentic south of the border meal, a variety of top notch margheritas and outstanding dessert selections.
