Our stay this time was much like a previous visit: WONDERFUL. The bucolic setting near a working farm complements the homey nature of the house itself, where the clock really did stop in the 1980’s. Nevertheless , all the modern features have managed to slip in. It’s our place near Iowa City when visiting a great grandson.

Mary was a great host and easy to communicate with. We loved staying out in the country. We were close to everything we wanted to see. So peaceful to drink my morning coffee outside. I got an early morning visit from a friendly farm cat. The house was clean and well stocked. The house was exactly as described. I would definitely stay there again if we we coming back to the area.

Beautiful, quiet location just a short drive from multiple areas to explore! House was just as listed, extremely clean, and well loved. Wonderful communication from the host. All in all a great place to relax and unwind!

Stop the clock was a wonderful, serene stay for us! The farmhouse was calm and gorgeous; we were even able to see some hay bales getting harvested from the field next door. We made friends with the chipmunks outside, and were only 20 minutes from nearby Amana and Iowa City. We would love to stay again and are so appreciative of Mary's stellar communication and gracious hosting!

This was our 2nd stay at Stop the Clock. When we knew of a May family wedding, we immediately contacted Mary in December to reserve. We had a very positive stay in 2022 and wanted to avoid a hotel. Stop the Clock feels like "home away from home". It's relaxing and well-appointed with comfy amenities. Wake up, sip your coffee, and enjoy the sunrise. In the evening, sit, relax, and enjoy the sunset. The stars are amazing too! The yard with its trees and flowers is much like a park. While it's in the country, it's an easy drive to Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, the Amana Colonies, and other area communities. Kent Park is just a few miles away with a beautiful walking path circumventing the lake or to enjoy a picnic. The lush Amana Nature Trail is a short drive away with views from the bluffs. On our 19-day trip, it was necessary to do laundry. Thankfully, Stop the Clock has a washer and dryer, so we could avoid a laundromat! The Stockman family members are gracious and thoughtful hosts!
