The place is in a happening area of York and very interesting, walking distance along the ancient city Walls ( the best way to take it all in and arrive in the heart of the city) the magnificent Yorkminster and all of the great history and sites of the city…don’t miss the fish and chips at the Guy Fawkes inn, (the birthplace in 1604(?) of Guy who attempted to blow up the hHouses of Parliament, he failed miserably and is burned in effigy throughout England every Nov. 5th). If you have/ rent a car (and the place does provide parking, a real bonus) it’s a short drive to Castle Howard a grandiose estate with awe inspiring views and grounds, an incredible fountain and walled garden where Brideshead Revisited was filmed …not to be missed ….a word to the wise: ic you stay here over the weekend you either need to join the throngs in the street (till 3am) or bring your earplugs….Yorkshire lads and lasses sure know how to party!!
