Doris and Jim were excellent hosts, couldn’t do enough for us, had a birthday cake, bottle of cava and put banners up as I’d said we were coming up for my girlfriend’s birthday, brought her G&Ts in the evening and baked us pastries every morning which were beautiful. Both extremely friendly and lots of local recommendations which helped us make the most of our stay. The lodge was beautiful and clean and very homely, we were extremely comfortable and it catered to all of our needs. Area was so peaceful and also very close to the majority of places we wanted to see in the area so really well situated. Would highly recommend Doris and Jim’s lodge to anyone looking to see the beautiful Forest of Dean and would definitely go back if staying in the area again. Thank you both for a lovely stay from the both of us!

Doris & Jim are two of the nicest people we have ever met - and definitely the best Airbnb hosts! Both were friendly, welcoming, funny and made us feel very comfortable. They went out of their way to ensure you never needed anything - from beautiful, freshly baked pastries every morning to wonderful gin cocktails (Doris went out her way to make me a lovely non-alcoholic drink) every evening. They were full of local recommendations - even offering to drop us off at a local pub so my husband could enjoy a drink. The lodge itself is lovely - very private and has incredible views of the surrounding area & the beautiful garden. We felt very relaxed. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the evening and looking at the stars - kept warm by the lovely blankets provided. I would definitely recommend this listing to everyone. We feel like we’ve stayed with friends the past few days and are so grateful for their hospitality.

Doris and Jim were outstanding hosts! They provided great recommendations, gave us everything we needed and were very attentive. They were welcoming, kind and friendly from the moment I booked until we left. The lodge is the perfect place to have some R&R, the bed is super comfy, the views are gorgeous and the surrounding area is peaceful but with plenty of stuff to do nearby, either walking or driving.

What a wonderful stay. The cabin was spotless and we had everything we needed and more! A travel cot was provided for our little one and there were loads of lovely snacks and essentials, we were even given eggs from the chickens. Doris and Jim went above and beyond with their hosting and provided fresh pastries and evening gins which were fab! They also provided birthday goodies as we were celebrating a birthday. They are the kindest people and really made our stay extra special. The cabin is situated in their beautiful garden overlooking the fields. It's a really peaceful and you will never want to leave!!

Doris & Jim - what brilliant hosts. Easily the friendliest and most helpful hosts I have ever had. Greeted us and made us feel at home instantly. Provided brilliant recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Even topped off the amazing hosting with freshly baked pastries and drinks. I couldn’t recommend this place to stay anymore! Thanks to Doris and Jim for making it a special stay. Mike & Emily
