A fantastic apartment, in a wonderful town. Well stocked and private. The one issue I have however, is that it does feel slightly dishonest to list as “one of the few places in the area where you can park for free”, when in reality that’s not quite the case. There are two spaces (one of which was inaccessible due to building work debris) shared between approximately 20 apartments. I was there for a week, constantly checking, but the space wasn’t available once, so ended up costing an extra £5 per day in parking, so make sure you allow for this. Aside from this however, it’s a really great place to stay.
Excellent location over looking the market square walking distance to all amenities would definitely recommend.
We had a good couple of nights here! Chris's place is one of 20 flats in a modernised old building, but we had no trouble finding the way there, instructions were very clear. The flat isn't huge but it had everything we needed for a short stay, the rooms were clean, bed comfy. Quiet and convenient location for the attractions of Buxton.
Chris was very responsive to queries - answered quickly. The wifi wasn't working - not his fault - the connection is shared with the adjacent flat which was empty and the last person switched it off but Chris came down from Manchester to sort it out which I appreciated. I didn't realise quite how many stairs there were to the flat... The flat was simply but adequately furnished; it was perhaps a little dark - because high up and didn't get a lot of sun but I was out most of the time so it didn't really matter. Lovely walks in this area only a short drive away. The car park in front of the flat was realistically the best place to park (allotted parking to the building consisted of just 2 spaces and there were over 15 flats) but the machine was not issuing 24 hour tickets - again obviously nothing to do with Chris - maybe it is sorted now?? I had two meals at Luciano's just a few doors down - very nice and quick friendly service.
Buxton is famous for being an old spa town with rennovations of the Ensana Buxton Crescent now fully complete (a must see!). Famous for its natural spring water which is available to all within the town from the lions head fountain at the front of the crescent.
The Pavilion Gardens, The Slopes and The Springs shopping centre are all a short distance from the apartment within walking distance.
It’s an ideal location for walkers or those who like to be adventurous with the Peak District National Park, Goyt Valley, Tissington trail and many National Trust recommended walks / houses all just a short drive or bus journey away.
There are many pubs, restuarants and takeaways suitable for all tastes all within a very short walking distance.
For those travelling via car there is a public car park to the front of the building, this is a pay and display car park with the following charges;
1 hour £1.20,
1-2 hours £1.80,
2-4 hours £3.10,
Over 4 hours up to 24 hours £3.90.
Prices correct as of March 2022.
A local supermarket and convenience store is just a short walk across the market place.
Bus stops on the the market place outside travel to many destinations quite regularly, this is also where you can catch the 199 directly to Manchester airport.
There is also a taxi rank on the market place for any short trips within town.
