Lovely location, beautifully decorated and friendly hosts! I have been looking forward to staying here since I stumbled upon their IG several years ago. Thought it would be a wonderful way to end of year. Had an issue with my partner getting over Covid, so they couldn't come with me due to the Host's policy. I asked if I could possible reschedule, but due to the Host's policy I wouldn't be refunded. Oh well! After making the 6 hour drive to New Cuyama, I couldn't wait to lay down in a warm and cozy yurt, in the middle of the high desert. Unfortunately, it was not only 46 degrees (Fahrenheit) outside, but inside the yurt too! Though there is a heater, I could only feel its warmth within a foot of it... otherwise, the cold was all encompassing. Contemplated sleeping in the car, but decided to leave when I couldn't get warm enough to fall asleep (using all the bedding on both beds, sleeping bag and emergency mylar blanket). Such a bummer!

We just spent Christmas at Nathan’s place. Full disclosure, it gets cold! I wish we were more prepared for that, so I would advise anyone who comes during winter to bring the right equipment. Including clothing, propane ect. If you’re planning on cooking a bunch, which we were, I would also bring some more kitchen supplies & tools (paper towels, spices, dish cloths, maybe more lights..). But, there is what you need for minimal cooking if you don’t bother. You can buy fresh eggs from their chickens and they are soooo yummy! The yurt is very lovely & cute. Bedding stuff is quite nice & soft. So I would say it is pretty cozy. Nathan & his husband live on the property and are very helpful if you need anything, communication is easy. There are a bunch of animals so if you have kids, it’s a little paradise. So sweet, we were able to go pet them. I hope to go back during spring break, and see the beautiful flowers. Being secluded in nature is the best. Would definitely recommend!
