The stay really surpassed our expectations and Maki's hospitality was a highlight of our trip. We appreciated the look, feel, and description of this listing outside of Kyoto, as after spending time in Tokyo we were hoping for somewhere a bit more off the beaten path to relax and restore. Maki was so attentive and welcoming, from recommending local sights and temples, to helping cater to food preferences with local restaurants. We were offered the option to purchase a tea ceremony with her teacher and had a wonderful and meaningful experience. We were so comfortable that we ended up staying in one night and cooking because we didn't want to leave the grounds. The historic significance of the home, with the modern amenities including a beautiful kitchen and even more beautiful bathroom, plus more space than we needed, made this stay really a hidden gem. I've stayed in many Airbnbs and can't say enough good things about this home and Maki and her family.

Nestled amidst the tranquil Japanese countryside, this Airbnb was a haven of peace and authenticity. What truly elevated our experience was the exceptional hospitality of our host, Maki. From the moment we arrived, she went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and safety. Always ready with valuable recommendations and insights into local attractions, Maki's genuine care for her guests was evident in every interaction. She even drove us to the market, demonstrating her commitment to ensuring our stay was nothing short of perfect. One of the highlights of our trip was the beautiful tea ceremony and kimono dressing arranged by Maki in the comfort of our home. The ceremony was not only beautiful but also incredibly relaxing and spiritually enriching, offering a truly immersive cultural experience Additionally, the home itself was stunning, with a picturesque zen garden and breathtaking views. Everything was clean, organized, and beautiful, I Highly recommend staying here!

The most tranquil gardens, minimalist traditional Japanese home with luxury inclusions which finished it off perfectly. Host was so welcoming and generous. Would recommend to anyone who wants an authentic experience coupled with a touch of luxury. I found my new base line after only a few days of living in this stunning home. Worth a visit..

One of the best airbnb experiences I have ever had! My friends and I came to Kyoto for our graduation trip and our host made it extra special for us. She was responsive, knowledgeable about local attractions and friendly. The place looked even better than the pictures with traditional Japanese interior and a beautiful garden! It was a great place for me to recharge my batteries and get ready for the next part of the journey in Tokyo. Overall amazing experience!

Tradition and historical Japan blended with ultra modern features. This site is beautiful, and the hosts were very helpful. The kitchen offered everything and the media room was a perk and the soaking tub looking over the private gardens was amazing! They helped us arrange a private chef that came to the home and cooked an amazing meal and offered us the service of a driver and guide of the area for a day. The extra cost for those services were well worth it. My family and I will return. Thinking about returning and renewing our wedding vows in their beautiful Japanese gardens and arrange for a traditional tea ceremony. I highly recommend this location. A great French restraint was recommended and a 1300 year old shrine is just a short walk away.
