Cornwall · 整套民居 · 4室5床3.5卫 · 可住10人 · Stunning house near Port Isaac with sea views
Charming spacious house with sea and rural views enjoying direct access to the dramatic coastal path and to secret, unspoilt beaches. Country kitchen with Aga, sun room, cozy living room with wood-burner, and underfloor heating throughout. Lovely master bedroom with vaulted ceiling and sea views. Home office with fibre broadband. The historic fishing village of Port Isaac, where Doc Martin is set, is less then ten minutes away. Padstow and Rock, on the Camel River Estuary, lie just beyond. The house is an eighteenth-century stone cottage, extended and updated by the owners to take advantage of the gorgeous views of gardens, fields, and coast. The original cottage rooms have stone walls and beamed ceilings, while the kitchen-dining room has tall windows and French doors opening onto the patio and main garden. The spacious kitchen includes an island to gather round for drinks. The warm heart of the room is the three-oven Aga, which will delight any serious cook with its radiant cast-iron heat, but is easy to use thanks to simple electric controls. The kitchen seats up to thirteen, with five stools at the island and a dining table with room for eight. A central hallway connects the kitchen to the living room, equipped for cosy evenings with both a wood burner and an open fire place. It also connects to the east-facing sun room, which catches the morning light and has a pair of comfortable chairs for reading or morning coffee. Upstairs, bedrooms 2 and 3 open off the main landing with the low eaves of the original cottage. They share access across the landing to the main bathroom, which has both a shower stall and a luxurious cast-iron roll top bath. A separate landing leads via the study to the long master bedroom, which has its own sitting area with sea views and a private shower room. The owners are both writers. The study or home office has two large desks set up for writing. It enjoys the same splendid views across the gardens and fields to the coast. One of the charms of the house is its separate levels, with two or three steps separating some of the different living or sleeping areas. Back downstairs, further steps lead down from the main hallway to another home office or workspace, the "old piggery", set up for projects or indoor play. It includes a double sofa bed that can be used as a fifth bedroom, and gives access beyond to a small passageway leading to bedroom 4 and separate shower room. The guest suite (bedroom 4), situated at a lower level away from the main living areas of the house, also enjoys a sitting area and views. It has its own french door giving access from the garden. Its luxurious shower room has a marble slab floor and a large rain-head shower area. To accommodate children who need separate beds, two additional floor mattresses are available. These can be placed in almost any of the sleeping areas, or in the office adjacent to the master bedroom. There is also an infant travel cot. Guests have the entire house to themselves. There is no other residence on the property, which has extensive gardens, a pond enclosed within its own hedges and gates, and stone outbuildings. These include a former stable converted to a writing studio/guest room, which is unwinterized and used outside the summer months to store garden furniture. The only neighbouring property is set at the top of the drive on the road, hidden behind trees and hedges and not visible from the house or gardens. The location is stunning, lying within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with fields on all sides forming a delightful valley running towards the sea and capturing the dramatic sunlight of the North Cornwall coast. Footpaths take you out to one of the most breathtaking stretches of the long-distance coast path, with high cliffs plunging down to hidden coves and beaches. The nearest beach, inaccessible by car, offers vast stretches of sand and rock pools at low tide, with few visitors and excellent surfing and belly boarding. Discounts are offered for weekly, monthly, and longer stays.
We had a wonderful stay at Timothy's beautiful home in Cornwall. We were a family with 3 generations staying for Easter, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The grounds are absolutely stunning, with far reaching vistas of fields and the ocean. We loved sitting at the big dining table, watching the weather change and spotting rainbows over the water. The kitchen is a dream, with a gorgeous Aga stove and beautiful views. We loved exploring the area during the day, and coming home to sit by the fire and play games. Our 3 year old particularly loved exploring the beautiful garden, and watching the sheep and baby lambs in the field next door. Timothy went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. We would highly recommend this beautiful home to anyone looking for peace and comfort in a gorgeous part of the country.
The house was great. Perfect for a storm-lashed New Year break. Bracing walks and a New Years dip at Polzeath…a roaring fire, family games…all the good stuff. The house is warm, welcoming and perfectly prepared. We would highly recommend it. Tim was also very accommodating regarding our arrival time…always something of a lottery when driving to Cornwall!
We had a wonderful time, the house was perfect and cosy! Great location for walks and had the wood fire burning every evening. Couldn’t recommend more.
This is a relaxed, warm and inviting home. Our family loved the quirky layout, slate floors downstairs, the log burner and of course the Aga. The views from the house are gorgeous. We enjoyed spending time relaxing at home as much as we did getting out and about.
A simply beautiful home, and a truly wonderful base for exploring north Cornwall. The garden was a highlight, our little boy loved exploring, picking blackberries and the sea views and sunset were spectacular. The kitchen was a real treat with views from the dining table that were just incredible. Can’t recommend this home highly enough. We spent the most fabulous week here and did not want to leave!
The historic fishing village of Port Isaac, where Nathan Outlaw runs his Michelin-starred seafood restaurant and the TV series Doc Martin is set, is less then ten minutes away. The Camel River Estuary lies just beyond, with the picturesque sailing village of Rock and the harbour-side shops and famous restaurants of Padstow.
Closer to the house there are two villages both about a mile away, each with a pub offering meals and a village shop. A local farm shop and a butcher are also nearby.
To the north is Tintagel, with its ruined cliff-top castle , and the beautiful harbour at Boscastle. The major surfing beaches of North Cornwall lie up and down the coast, while inland the rugged landscape of Bodmin Moor offers hiking and biking routes, with stops at quaint village pubs along the way.
The nearest train station is at Bodmin Parkway, 15 miles away, while Newquay airport is a 40 minute drive. A local bus stops near the house (Transport for Cornwall Route 10) with service to Port Isaac, Polzeath, Rock, Wadebridge, Bodmin, and Bodmin Parkway train station, and in the other direction to Camelford and Launceston, with connecting service to Exeter.
