This is a fantastic house in an unbelievable setting in the hills overlooking the region. The owner was there to greet us when we arrived and again at check out so we could hand over the keys. He could not have been more helpful, spending time with us to explain what tourist attractions were in the area. The house is simply stunning. a long drive sweeps down, below the level of the pool and then back up to the house. Inside are three spacious rooms, decorated fabulously. These are all on the ground floor. A central staircase leads up to another tastefully decorated lounge and kitchen, complete with TV and XBox. The kitchen leads you out to the mezzanine dining area, a vaulted timber framed structure leading to an archway resplendent with kiwis. From here, it is a quick walk across the upper drive to the pool which is perfectly sized for our party of 7. There is plenty to do in the area. The Gouffre de Padirac is simply mind blowing. Beaulieu is ten minutes drive, and the river swimming there is to die for. Ultra clear water and a refreshing temperature to combat the Dordogne heat of summer. Rocamadaur is not far either and there are a host of other things to do. There is an intermarche at the bottom of the climb to the house, so you literally have everything you need on the doorstep. Simply amazing.
