One of the best airbnbs we’ve stayed in! Cozy, clean, and so cute. You can tell how much Jeff and Doug love their home, the attention to detail they provide is amazing. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area. :)

The Beach Garden Cottage exceeded our expectations! The cottage reminded me of the magical stories of gardens, fairies, fireflies that my mom would read me as a child. Jeff and Doug also have a little "farm" in the back of the house with two rescue pigs, an emu, sheep and chickens. The environment is incredibly peaceful and the cottage is super quaint and immaculate inside. My husband and I felt immediately "at home." We loved the cottage so much that we spent one entire afternoon nestled on the loveseat looking out the window and reading. There are also walking trails everywhere - we loved the beach walk to the lighthouse (it's several miles but so picturesque!). Jeff and Doug are delightful hosts. They are available should you need anything yet don't disturb your privacy. They also provide a comprehensive written guide in the cottage with all their recommendations on restaurants, things to see/do, hikes, shopping, etc. We highly recommend the cottage and will return again.

Beautiful and private. Cute cottage with lovely view of the beach. Even though the cottage is beside/front of main house, it still felt separate and private. Flowers were lovely. Kitchen was well equipped. Appreciated the attention to details of guest care. Would come back for lavender festival and summer hiking in the mountains.

In terms of host and dwelling, this was hands-down the best Airbnb we've visited thus far. This location has been a vacation rental for 30 years, with an amazing story: Jeff's mother who grew up in this (originally) "duck-hunting cabin" a few steps from the water, was the one who had converted it into a fully modern vacation rental. Today Jeff continues her legacy, with an attitude that's still as fresh and welcoming as his mother's was 30 years ago. The family descends from a Scottish indentured servant who escaped his ship in Victoria BC in the 19th Century, was rowed to safety across the Straits by Native Americans, and decided to call the place home. Jeff published a wonderful booklet describing the history, available at the cabin. The communication, information, and tips from Jeff were down-to-earth and relaxed, and yet also meticulous. And the check-out checklist was the best ever: "Just leave the keys on the kitchen table." Thank you Jeff! Beware, we might return :)
