The host responded later than I expected, I should have canceled it if she hadn’t replied. And I regretted I didn’t. We came early at 3AM and even though we called the number she gave, no one was greeting to open the gate for us. We had to struggle with their barking dog to find the way in and unlock the gate in totally dark night. After a while, a guy showed up and told us to stay in the living room, and he went to sleep right away, while it was freezing 9 degrees outside. He didn’t even offer a blanket for his guests! So that was a first red alert for such a “helpful” host! After we checked in, all of us noticed a super bad smell from pets’ urine all over the room, left trash from last guests still in the fridge, and the smell was so strong that I had to spray my deodorizer twice a day to lessen it. We had to open the door to let the breeze came in but their dog chased our dogs so it was helpless to get rid of the smell. The only bright thing was the kitchen and living room.

Homestay was nice and vintage with old stuffs reminding me of old memories. It’s clean and quiet place. It will be great if host can grasp visitors’ check out plans and stay in homestay for help at the moments
