We were there with our daughter and son-in-law and their two boys. It was perfect for a family vacation. The grounds are totally enclosed with a pool, outdoor kitchen and bocce ball court. The 170 year old house is a charming mixture of old world elegance and modern conveniences. But the best part is the hostess herself. The effort Claire puts into taking care of her guests is extraordinary. She was very good about suggesting restaurants and things to do via occasional texts. However, she went way beyond that for us. When we arrived, we discovered that my wife's passport wallet was missing, containing credit cards, driver's license, cash and several other IDs as well as that all important passport. Claire offered not only caring sympathy, but took my wife to both the local and national police stations so that a report could be filed. Though my wife speaks some French, Claire's assistance was invaluable.

Colette’s and Dee’s earlier reviews are right on Villa d’Iena easily accommodated our 3 generation family of eight for the entire month of March. This is the best place we have stayed, in over 50 years of travel - it has character, beauty, and space. The appointments are remarkably complete, reflecting host Claire's taste and ingenuity. Both the main and summer kitchens are absolutely totally equipped! Claire is a gem. In the months before we arrived she emailed us several times ensure our needs were covered. Claire made us feel so welcome. When we arrived she welcomed us with wine and advice re what to see/do/eat in Carcassonne and surrounds. She arranged for an English speaking babysitter, for a masseur, graciously helped us sort out the garbage collection, made sure our 2 cars were safely parked on the street in front of the Villa. and patiently answered our many questiions. With Claire’s help and her house we had an extraordinary holiday.

Beautiful property. Photos do not do full justice . We loved the pool and garden area and an outdoor kitchen was perfect. Highly recommended
