This is a beautiful home on the West Fork of the Bitterroot River. Our second stay here, we enjoyed it even more than the first time. You will be enchanted by the sound of the river and creek as your worries slip away while you sit on one of the decks.

The Tailwater House Hideway was fabulous! It exceeded our expectations ... the location was perfect (right on the river), the house was nicely furnished, the kitchen stocked with essentials, and it was exceptionally clean. It was wonderful falling asleep each night to the sound of the river. We thoroughly enjoyed fly fishing right outside the door, and sitting on the porch in the evenings. Darby is a cute town, with some nice restaurants and lots of excellent hikes close by. We would definitely stay at the Tailwater House Hideaway again.

If you are considering booking tailwater and have not done so yet, don't wait! My husband and I have stayed in apartment/home-style vacation homes throughout the world and both agree that tailwater is one of, if not, the nicest we have stayed in. If possible, it is even more beautiful than the pictures. It is very well appointed with lots of kitchenwares and no shortage of the basics like towels, paper towel, trash bags, etc. So often, we find vacation rentals have the bare minimum but Alex and Holly keep the place well-stocked, which made it easier for us to feel at home and just enjoy. The beds were very comfortable, which is also a rarity among rentals and was pretty important for our family as we had two pregnant ladies on the trip in their third trimester. Check-in and check-out was very easy, directions were great and Holly and Alex went out of their way to connect with us when we didn't receive an AirBNB email in a typical timeline. Tailwater was really magical. There is nothing like waking up to the sound of the river outside your door in the cool morning air. Thanks Holly and Alex for sharing it all with our family!

We had a wonderful stay at the Tailwater house. The written description of the location cannot possibly do justice to the actual live experience of being at the confluence of two watercourses. When the description says "steps from the river" it is not figurative, it is literally a few steps! Amazing river sounds surround you the whole time. The house was comfortable and clean with a well appointed kitchen, extensive library including lots of kid books, and spacious outdoor decks. Of note, one of the bedrooms is set-off from the rest of the house and is accessible only by going outside and down some stairs -- which can be awesome for some folks or inconvenient for others. There are many great hikes in the area, including several within walking distance. We would definitely stay there again.
